He would have way more resources to work with here.

Maybe it’s not about resources, maybe it’s about building a castle out of the stones that you carried yourself. If you read his story and that of Q, it’s inspiring based on the work and efforts. Folks on this board should have to suffer what some others have. Not everyone has a ‘godfather’ with more money than ethics and a fan base that gives and gives…

    Well, in that case...

    Tychonick - 10-24-34 +2
    Berg - 18-29-47 -1

Those are their combined stats for the last two seasons, both playing for Omaha.  :)

Berg is going to end up being a great pickup for Berry.  Still two more seasons to develop into a solid center for us.

Yup, cuz as we’ve read on this board for the past 3 months… we’re a DEVELOPMENT MACHINE!

In my mind, the Berry era teams (beyond the first that was Hak's legacy) lack discipline. It is not the "physical play" that is leading to the penalties as much as it is lazy or out-of-position plays that causes most of the offensive zone penalties (that we should never be taking) and many of the d-zone penalties as well. There are plenty of teams full of huge defensemen. They are not all getting punished like we are.

The portal needs to go away. Berry has become dependent on the portal to fill gaps caused by lack of planning, recruiting, and developing both individual player, and teams as a whole.

TBH, I think we are seeing with Berry the same thing the Omaha folks saw with Blaiser the last 3 years of his tenure. Sloppy coaching, poor recruiting for today's game, loyalty to assistants that maybe should be replaced. Dean couldn't put it together regardless of the talent. That's probably why he retired, he couldn't see the solution and was resistant to suggestion.

11 and 13 didn't exactly see much ice in their games either.

11 had 6 points in 27 games and was +3.

13 had 6 points in 27 games and was +4.

18 had 3 points in 26 games and was -5.

who else was on the ice with 18? +/- are not owned by a player, they are a function of who else was on the ice, both UND and opponents.

The fact that she got offended by a chant of "Oma-fraud" is funny to me.  :D

Don’t think she was offended, rather stating an example (albeit a minor one) of traveling fans behavior and asking the ‘why’? Seemed very respectful of the team.

Hain was already punching the glass and celebrating facing the UNO fans. They did the birdie in response and then Hain did more punching. Gotta love sports.

So maybe not as bad as was thought. Still, not with kids but what else could he do, stick his tongue out?

UND fan giving the bird to a Wolverine player who scored to beat us in the 2011 Frozen Four.

Let’s face it, there was a lot of emotion in this game. You could tell by Gabinet’s presser. The team lost a friend and coach this year, the fans saw the team rise from a poor start. We’ve been there. That must have been a soul crushing turn of events. Correct however, not with kids present, a bad move period…

  8. I've read a lot, kept my mouth shut, but I think that some are on to something. I honestly believe we aren't the only ones dealing with it, but maybe it just hit us harder because of the caliber of recruits that we get. The covid year is hurting recruiting and development. It is pumping the portal as well. Freshman comes in with high expectations only to sit as a 'seasoned' veteran gets the minutes. And it will go on, then it's the current junior, then the current sophomore. So you're sitting around for 1, 2 maybe 3 years before you get playing time. They check out and hit the portal, only to compete with more covid year players (think Cruckskank - no I didn't spell it wrong). Said this all along, decisions get made without understanding the ramifications. The coaches have to win, so...

what penalty are you reffering to?  im trying to remember...the cross check to the goalie?   if thats what you are reffering to, that was his own player forcing his stick into the goalies neck

No, he got 2 minutes mid 3rd I think for pushing a guy headfirst into the end boards.

  10. I see this series are a potential battle of the ages. Throw out the first game (4-1) based on the young Omaha teams first look at NCHC play, the balance of the year games have all be extremely tight. Saturday nights game hinged, I believe on the following:

    • What we all know of as a BS call on Omaha 29. Interference on the puck carrier? Tom knew he screwed up and made it worse with a completely ridiculous assessment on review. Put Omaha on defense for the first 2 of the third, a potential momentum killer.
    • Farmer's penalty was an obvious 5, though not even reviewed. Don't know what Cabinet was thinking, other than the mistake he made against CC earlier this year. He should have demanded a review.
    • JT made 2 mistakes that cost the Mavs dearly. Trying too hard, last game t the Ralph? Possibly.
    • Otherwise, the Mavs take second place and play CC but I am not sure that plays to benefit them as they have struggled against that team.

I am expecting a MONSTER game one, winner takes all kind of thing. I don't think that will do it. Goes 3, not making a prediction. If Omaha figures out Blake, James and Gaber, not good. If they struggle to stem the assault, we win.

Alaska's strength of schedule is 31st.

    Dave

Respectfully, makes the rank even more suspect. Teams that play significantly tougher schedules with 17, 18, 19 wins would, I feel, have a legit reason to wonder.

Glad you said that cus I was thinking along the same lines when I checked out their schedule and who a good portion of their wins have come against. I always thought PW ranking/grading system was damn near objective but not so sure about that anymore.  Good Lord.

Yeah, Dave said that their SOS was at 36 - 'middle of the pack' and they have 20 wins...

    #32. AIC 1-0-1

    $46. UST 1-1-0

    #11.  Michigan Tech 0-2-0

    #16. UNO 1-1-0

    #29. Nmu 1-1-0

    #49. Rpi 1-0-1

    #8.   Penn state 0-2-0

    #51. Ak-Ank 4-0-0

    #14. ND 1-1-0

    #3.   DU 1-1-0

    #51. Ak-Ank 2-0-0

    #41. Az state 2-0-0

    #58. LIU 3-1-0

    #41. Az state 2-0-0

So, basically, against anyone in the top 20 they are 3-8. Anyone in the bottom 21, they are 15-2-0. Ranked number 12, and I am at a loss. I know the math will check out, but feel that there ranking and probable slot in the NCAA's is not deserving. That's just me, not the expert, just an opinion.

Beating Denver, Omaha and notre dame is probably why , we couldn’t beat Denver.

I get that part but it's only 3 games. If I remember correctly, they also got swept by Penn State and split with the other 3. Split with St. Thomas as well. I think that Lindenwood will be their downfall.

    Hahaha. :D

The question he should have asked is ‘if 70% of your wins come against AA, LIU and Arizona State, how do you get to 12 in the first place?’. Yes, they did beat a few good teams but good lord, the math!!! 30% of their wins are Anchorage!

I just realize what I said, doesn’t make any sense. I’ll see myself out…

How about this! Foosball rules! The linesman throws the puck in from the timekeepers bench. Each team has 3 forwards, 5 ‘middies’, 2 defensemen and a goalie. The players CAN’T move!!! If the puck enters a dead zone that no one can reach, they throw in another puck! After 5 pucks, if no one scores, the move on to a spelling bee. If it’s still a tie, we go to beer pong to decide the winner!

3x3 for ten minutes. Winner gets three points. Loser gets one, and a tie is zero. Giving teams points for tying doesn’t make any sense. Reward the winner, and give the other team a consolation. Can’t be having Miami finish the year with zero points…

    Let's go back to 5x5, 10 minutes.

    Win=2 pts

Tie=1 point each (if the favorite has to win by playing a pick up game then they don't deserve it)

    Loss=0 points.

I don't know why it changed from 2 pts for a win to 3, but it's just stupid. The NHL was this way for DECADES. Why the change? Who the heck knows...
