Agreed.  Omaha did what they needed to do, and really can't do any more, as far as NCAA tourney goes.  Omaha should be the more tired team and are probably just elated to get to St. Paul.  They are ripe for UND to make amends from two weekends ago.  As long as UND wins the semi-final game, that should solidify their 1 seed?  I guess they it depends on who they play in the championship (and whether they lose), and maybe a little bit on what happens to Michigan State.

I think you’re underestimating Omaha. You’ve got to remember that their leadership group was there through Covid. They seem to be a very tight team and it doesn’t matter who’s on the ice. I know this week my wife is going to be unbearable, especially since she’s not over Berg transferring so all I can do is hope for the best!

I just listened to the Kris Mayotte post game interview and here’s a summary of what he said, hopefully I captured it accurately as he was rattling off a lot of names, what ifs, and scenarios…

From what he just said, it sounds like the likely scenarios where CC wouldn’t get in would be if St. Cloud were to win the Frozen Faceoff and/or for UMass to beat BC. A Dartmouth upset of Cornell would be nice but he thinks Cornell still has to win the ECAC in order to jump ahead of the Tigers for one of the last at-large berths.

Mayotte also said that CC are big fans of North Dakota (and to a lesser extent, DU) right now because UND especially, helps CC’s RPI so by UND winning, it also boosts CC’s RPI. So, while CC is on life support, the have a good chance at making it in as an 14 seed to face Boston University.

He’s focusing on the likelihood of a UMass upset over BC and/or a St. Cloud Frozen Faceoff championship being less than 50%. He said it comes down to these four teams for the last spot - CC, UMass, Cornell, and St. Cloud. He capped off his comments by saying after giving the boys Monday and Tuesday off, they’re going right back to work on Wednesday and preparing for a matchup against BU.

Personally, I hope Colorado college makes it. They’ve had a hell of a year and I’d love to see that program rebuild. I think the coach is done a marvelous job, recruiting instead of shopping. They are a gritty bunch, with the interesting combination of grinder and talent.

Part of it is that it is usually easy pickings making fun of Omaha. But they have proved that they’ve got a legitimate competitive team this year. So I’ll tip the cap. I hope UND is amped and ready to play them. Could very possibly have to play them twice.

My wife is going absolutely bonkers. As I said before she graduated from UNO ™.

  4. Omaha was supposedly victim to the flu this week. Looked that way on Friday. Mbereko seemed the same. No gymnastics in goal. He gave up a few softies. 5 hole appears to be an issue for him. I said earlier this year that omaha was better than most gave them credit for. They showed it this weekend…

    I certainly didn’t say that.
The people that said that are the same people calling for Berry's head after two poor games at Baxter. ;)

good lord folks I was just kidding! forgot the kidding font! AND - you are exactly right, 'the same people'... with 'LFG!' or 'fire Berry' depending on the last shift...

Omaha at Baxter vs. Miami at REA is an apples to (insert whatever isn't close to an apple) comparison.

Miami isn't close to what Omaha is.  Omaha is 11th in the pairwise, Miami is 47th with 1 league win.

I didn't expect us to sweep Omaha during senior weekend at Baxter with their season hanging by each game they play from here on out.  I do expect us to sweep Miami.

WMU just swept them, outscoring them 9-3 in the process. If UND can’t take care of them in 2 games, not many are gonna be confident in much success at NCHC tourney or NCAAs.

Says the folks that expected a sweep of our ‘little brother down south’! :whistling:

Miami was 1-21-2 during the regular season. If we can’t sweep them in two why would we ever believe they could get to the frozen four much less win it.

Miami may have lost to everyone, but those victories were not easy ones. I have a sneaking suspicion that Miami should be a surprise. I agree with winning in three, but the first two games are gonna be very difficult.

The Mavs in St. Paul?  I like it.

But I'm picking CC because Mayotte has got that group playing fantastic at home.

Regardless, that will be a great series.

I'm certainly not defending UNO at all, but they've been playing their best hockey of the year lately.
They've only lost one game in their last 11 games.
Swept SCSU, UMD, CC (a team that swept us), and Miami that time.  Their only loss was against WMU.

Actually, turn UNO OT wins into wins (as opposed to “partial wins”) and their situation in both ranking and Pairwise changes considerably. They’re a solid team considering their recruiting abilities.

I think they ‘hate UND weekends’ based on some pretty poor behaviors exhibited by some of our less than friendly fans. A minority to be sure, and everyone has them, but from an old man’s perspective probably earned. These two teams always get after it against each other and it’s going to be a good series.

    Called it.

Mop the floor with little brother to the south. Be sure to tweet sensical things to mavpuck on twitter to get blocked. All Omaha people say is how much they hate UND weekends. Make them hate it more by winning.

UNO has only been swept once all season (against DU)...I'd love to see it as well, but wouldn't be surprised if we drop some points, especially coming the week after the Penrose clinch.

And those games were officiated by an NCHC rookie ref who is no longer on the roster. My wife said it was a sh@tshow (she was there with her parents) so I watched the archives on NCHCtv. Holy cow! Might as well have been reffed by the DU alumni association! I think they will be a tough out, but they tend to give us ‘opportunities’.

When I saw the video from the penalty box, I was where are the officials. Ness basically letting himself out the box and nothing she was going to do to stop him.

That fight looked sloppy and lucky no one caught a skate

Based on what I see, season ending suspensions are the right thing. I hate that sh@t
