Another lackluster performance just like last weekend except this team it results in the loss. Definitely disappointing first off just because of the lack of energy and execution the guys played with, second because you would've hoped they would've learned from last weekend, and third because Omaha isn't a very good team. Guys really seemed to lack some urgency with the puck tonight. Have to make more of the tough plays didn't seem like we won a whole lot of board battles all night. Scheel wasn't sharp tonight. Lot of clean faceoff losses which is very uncharacteristic. Despite the poor play I thought the guys still generated some solid opportunities but just not as many as usual and when that happens you have to convert on what you get and that didn't happen tonight. Michaud hit a post, Peski hit a post, Adams had a great chance he put into the stomach, etc. I'd expect a nice sharp response from the guys tomorrow night.

Say what you want about Omaha, but they have played everyone fairly even. Good coaching, young squad, on the rise. I saw the game as pretty even, pretty exciting, just one of those outcomes. Will the Sioux recover, of course. Will the Mavericks go to the NCAA’s, probably not. But today they aren’t a very good team is uninformed.

I went down to ASU for a series last December at Oceanside Arena. The place is a total dump. I’ve seen high school arenas better than that. The great irony is that it’s named Oceanside Arena.

That said, it should be mentioned, that they’re building a 5,000 seat arena on campus.

Well, it is “Oceanside”, just a long walk to the beach...

Again, not just "really good"... historically the best they've ever had. 2015-16 and the lead up to that title were one of the best runs we've ever had and we won a title. See where I'm coming from?

The point isn't "we can't win because these other teams are really good", it's because they've never been that good and that's why they beat us.

It won't continue. It doesn't for any team, forever. I'm hoping our success is going to come back starting this year and lasts a really long time.

None of the NCHC teams are ‘bad’, look at the noncon records. Even in the down years sweeping any team ‘round here is tough. Even the bottom 4, for want of that 1 or 2 in the top 6, or 1 or 2 on the back line are competing for home ice. A shut down goal tender (Leclarc!) makes a bottom dweller dangerous with a one goal lead in the 3rd. This year will be interesting, lots of freshmen all around. Who gels quickest?

    Omaha - UND - Wisconsin.......

    London???

However, now 2 high end recruits that sluffed of UND for Wisco.

Its one thing to lose a recruiting battle but recruited players is another.

Maybe these guys weren't UND type guys, maybe they weren't Berry type guys, but Im one more lackluster season away from saying the next decommit is from BEHIND the bench.

Originally from Schenectady! All my dad's family still live in Glens Falls.

Clarkson would be a great matchup too, or Cornell. Be good for both of them to come west more often.

  5. Happens all the time with some of these guys. They commit for one reason, then find out it’s the wrong reason. I think it just shows lack of knowledge and maturity. Don’t need those guys as it shows up in the locker room, practice efforts and toughness...

It was more of a joke that he's going to Denver and you should have been a loving influence to attend our favorite school.;)

Question for ya.  Did he not want to play for the USDT?  Not try out?  Kid is a great player and I'm sure he will score a few on us.

Not on us, Goon has influence and the kid will hold up, hit few posts and call it a night...:whistling:

My concern is the "PUSH" from the CHL teams will be to dangle the "quicker" route of major junior before they can be advised fully of the potential of the college development path.

The good thing is most hockey parents are rational humans who will keep their players grounded and not caught up in the false promise........   :whistling:

Or the N.C double effin A will revisit the MJ ban and allow any kid up to ‘x’ interface (camp, scrimmage, roster, game) time in MJ to decide their path. To me these rules are bull$%!# protectionism no longer required.

I don't know.  We went 2-2 against UMD, and I wouldn't bet against them winning the championship again this year.  We were also pretty evenly matched against DU, and I wouldn't bet against them winning the championship again this year either.  And this in a year in which we admittedly couldn't put the puck in the net and had one of the worst power plays in recent memory.

I agree that they are the favorite and I think they will win, but I hope anyone but UMD wins (even more than DU). I don't agree that they have good, legal checks. They play on edge, and Nick Wolff is about as dirty as they come. Keep in mind that this is the same UMD team that coincidentally injured Jost, Boeser and Tucker Poolman in the same year, and Pionk tried to injure Cam Johnson. I intensely dislike UMD and its fan base. They are always douchebags, much like Ciskie and Drunk Hockey Guy.

    Agree...

    fan base: unbearable.

Wolf and that prick Tufte, dirty as hell. Perunovich, overrated. Samberg and Anderson, on the ice at the WJC in overtime. They are a balanced squad, well built and just a bit better than average. Hate Ciskie. They come at ya. I really thought Clarkson take them out given the chance. That of course before that !@#$ penalty got called on Sturm.

Exactly. And I hate to say it but bad things can happen. Look at SCSU.

Well those second two games were disappointing. ND had a come back and SCSU blew it again.

ND had a comeback facilitated by that Effin creep Binda. What a !@#$ call on Sturm, and a worse one on that center. How can any team recover from !@#$ like that. F@ck Notre Dame. They just want the potential rematch story.

If someone in the NCHC deserved to win it, I'd have to give a nod to David Carle, even if I don't really like DU.  The number of interactions I've had with him have all been great and it's sometimes tough to cheer against a team when you get to know some of the staff around it.

I have to agree with you. The kid has class and give every team in the conference respect.

Or we could just be happy with our 13% power play and scoring 2 goals or less 19 times and getting swept by a team that plays above a parking garage.

But it was a nice parking garage. Seriously folks, this too shall pass. The most important thing is that look at the recruits coming, next year 3 solid scorers. Jesus, should we blame Jost and Boeser?

I can accept a bad season or two but what is really hard to accept is the lack of talent we seem to be missing. There really is no excuse for that.

Or maybe the Sioux were graced with an incredible amount of talent and that run has been impacted by the fact that parity is influencing where the talent chooses to go.
