Sounds more like someone lost a bet.

I would never bet if that was the potential outcome!!! Actually *setting myself up* I don't mind the Mavs. I don't place the "whiny Jan Brady" monicker on them like some others. I think they are hard working, decent kids. Well, now that that Joey guy is gone anyway. As for the coach, he's young, lots to learn. Seems ok to me. Just some brain farts in terms of interaction with his peers. My understanding is that he was a player years ago. Maybe he got hit with a puck or was the victim of some contact with the head...

Guess it’s a pretty good deal that mother in law is into hockey. There is worse out there.

Oh no, dinner was Friday. We went to the Saturday game! My wife went to UNO, I think I said that last year. So dinner at the in-laws, then sitting next to a woman in tears all night. LOL

Like the holy grail of depressing…in Nebraska…watching Omaha hockey…with your mother-in-law.  Oof.

Noooooooo $hit. Dinner at Darlene’s… but I got to take my granddaughter to the farmers market. They have a really nice one at Aksarben on Sunday mornings.

I just watched the video; there's the old saying about acting like you've been there before, the celly was a bit over the top. The bigger problem is Omaha being swept is a PWR killer.

Was in omaha this weekend, mother in law’s birthday. Caught the game, depressing. Omaha is small and young, they’re gonna have a long year…

For our head to head conference record, we sure could use them winning those games instead of losing them.  Hopefully CC and Miami can improve non conference record as well.

They lost a significant percentage of scoring at the end of last year, and have a high percentage of freshmen starters. I get that everyone likes to gloat on this, and yes their schedule could use toughening, but I’m pretty sure they grow into this season. Time will tell.

They have the old und geometric logo in their barn for the school teams. That's pretty cool.

And yet I believe they were called ‘powder puffs’ on this board one short year ago. Said it then, say it now, they were and are a tougher out than believed.

  7. This tends to happen as Arenas modernize. I remember Walker arena (Clarkson University) to be an absolute horrible place for opposing teams to play because of the noise. They built Cheel, and the amount of concrete deadens any noise. It’s an absolute morgue. No I don’t think turning a blind eye to drinking will change that atmosphere at the Ralph. I think that it truly is all about focusing the crowd on the game. There has to be away.

 I am? Seems like the point has been well stated. A large chunk of fans want to talk about Spicer as an indicator of UND/Bubs' problems. I'm fine being told what the point is if I am missing it.

I would say the class is more than decent. Definitely more than decent. Them being freshman... I'm confused, is that good? I see it as very good.

    Stoney for the Win!

MNSU gave him a 10 year contract extension in 2017, that is on top an 8 year extension in 2015, I'm not sure how that works but I guess he's locked in till at Least 2027. Plus he has a family with kids, would be pretty hard for him to uproot from a program that he basically built up and move his family to such a different environment.

    Maybe he’s locked until 2033!

Lot of changes being discussed at the coaches convention:

These changes would definitely benefit the bigger "blue blood" programs compared to the smaller.

NIL and the portal are both the benefit of the bigger blue bloods. Small and mid sized schools will end up to be the farm system via division 2 and 3. Five years from now we will start to see the slide.

PS,   It’s been far too long.    Excellent post, as always.
    Y’all come back, ya hear?

It is an excellent post, and speaking for my wife (which I can only do in her absence), an omaha fan and others that I know in Omaha, UND is highly respected as is Denver. The NCHC is the toughest league in Mens hockey and we are lucky to enjoy the games as we do. Every fan base has bitterness and jealousy within, but let’s face it, the NCHC as a whole has an awesome product that is much appreciated.

Like @Walsh Hallsaid, regardless if Budy stays or goes has no bearing on why Calder is gone or why Spicer isn't coming in. Spicer is not coming in because he's not better than the four recruits ahead of him, otherwise he'd be here in this season. He was told to wait a year and he decided not to.

Well said, and who is ‘right’ doesn’t matter. Both sides made decisions and that is ok. This conversation has taken pages with no known substance. Both sides moved on, maybe we ought to as well…
