I'll take "Completely missing the point for $500, Alex." :silly:

Maybe you are okay with what happened last night, but I am not.

This is a fan forum. People come on here to vent after a loss and celebrate after a win. Don't act shocked when people do those things.

As for ".....appreciate the efforts of a group of young men, trying their hardest to not disappoint", this isn't freaking high school athletics, although watching how UND runs their athletic department, it is hard to tell the difference sometimes. All that is missing is selling baked goods at the front door.

And no, my "self-esteem" is not measured by what happens at a sporting event. But I wouldn't be a fan if I didn't care whether or not the team does well. That is called indifference and it is the polar opposite of love, not hate as some people think.

Don't agree with this. That is fine, but please don't tell me what and how to think. Thank you.

I apologize if it seemed personal, I think I was reacting to the ‘spark’ and was actually reacting to the general tone of the board, more so than your comment. No, I wasn’t satisfied with last night, I just don’t get as worked up about as some. Not that I am correct and they are not. It’s just how I roll. Every night a new adventure.

The point is we don't want to end up like Nebraska FB. And since when does this program ever "embrace the suck"? That is the last thing we should do. Ever.

“Embrace the suck”  - military slang = To consciously accept or appreciate something that is extremely unpleasant but unavoidable.

in other words, appreciate the efforts of a group of young men, trying their hardest to not disappoint. In no way should you expect your self-esteem to be measured by something in which you have merely an observers perspective. In other words, you shouldn’t expect to be able to beat your chest for something done for you…

  3. I can’t help but notice the similarities between this board and Nebraska Football Twitter. All the teams that get trash talked on here suffer the EXACT issues, and have for years, that you guys are predicting in the future. Recruiting, location, coaching, etc. Settle down kids, embrace the “suck” as they say!

If you're trying to say that that skills competition didn't mean anything....

    You're completely right.

I believe the tie was Omaha on Saturday night.

I’ve never heard of him. Overager from some town as Gaber. Looks to be a depth add. You never know though.

    From Neutral Zone:

    2 years ago-ish…

Jayden Jubenvill #3 (F, L, 5’11”, 165, Parkland Rangers Midget, 06/19/2003)- Jayden is a smooth skating defenceman with elite puck-moving abilities. His stride is fluent, and he makes getting around the ice look effortless. His edge work is smooth, and he pivots well when transitioning from offence to defence or vice versa. He is serving as the team captain this season and he played on the top defence pairing. He also played top power play minutes where he quarterbacks the power play. The ’03 has quick puck movement and he did well to get pucks on net tonight. He picked up one assist on the man advantage after his shot on net was not cleanly handled by the goalie and a teammate was quick to pot the rebound. His offensive instincts are superb, and he is a threat to put up points in every game he plays. He still has the smarts and skating to be responsible in the defensive zone and he is quick to get back into the play after offensive zone turnovers where he is caught down low. Jayden should be a treat to watch all season long and he has really rounded out his game compared to other seasons we have watched him. Grade: A (3.25 *)

I’ve thought about it, and these are a couple lines I personally would try if I was in charge :

    17-8-9

    26-22-28

*I decided that since so far both of Caulfield’s goals this season came off great passes by James that we should give them some more time on the same line. If we want 22 and 9 on different lines putting McLaughlin at center with these 2 made sense. The other line we’ve tried before but was what was leftover in my head so I just went with it. *

Operative words ‘great passes’. Maybe others could try that! Who knows what could happen!

Anyone hear Hennessy’s comments in the post game show just now about how these losses stick with the fans much more than with the players? I wonder what he was driving at? Are we as fans overreacting? Are we out of line for being frustrated?

I think to some degree it’s possible, yes. Reading the board at times seems like a rollercoaster. Everyone gets their opinion, but I believe it’s never as bad, or as good, as ‘the posted opinions’.

Who has improved since last year? It’s like all development stalled. Guys like Costantini, Schmaltz, Caulfield, Frisch, Kleven. Everyone. This team just leaves you wanting more and it isn’t happening. Looks like a bubble team to me unless things change.

Sanderson covered a lot of sins.

Happy for both Judd and Kleven to get the monkeys off their backs, especially Judd. Once again losing a lead is troubling though.

Kleven’s goal was awesome. One goal isn’t exactly collapsing with a 3 goal lead with 6 minutes to go. They’ll be fine.

Midco on cable was not an issue (other than terrible uplink at Baxter, and that's on the host site).

If you're watching NCHC.tv make sure you're blaming the right folks. That was the home (Omaha) feed.

Don’t think I’ve watched a worse feed in 7 years. Could barely watch, let alone listen to the series. ESPN+!!!

  11. Actually, I have a different perspective on the weekend. Like I said, I don’t think UNO is a “bad” team. Young maybe, but not bad. The Friday night game went in our favor, but heavily weighted by a marginal goaltender interference call and a major penalty on 17 whilst you could argue he was acting in self defense because he was fighting off two fists and a stick at the time. Tonight, 2 bars and a post in the first period. It very well could have been a much different outcome. The jury is definitely out on them, but time will tell. I just say this because everyone seems to believe the team should have wiped the floor with them. I happen to think the NCHC play is going to be more interesting than usual. As for the Sioux, I think they have the all the pieces, they just need to play to their potential.

Sure…a wins a wins at the college level. And this is going to sound negative so I’ll take the heat, I’m a big boy :). But I was not impressed whatsoever by Omaha. They don’t come across as a good team at all. After looking at their schedule/record, oof. This is not a very good team. Nice MSU win I suppose.

I have watched them, they’re not ‘bad’, just young. I said it before. Unfortunately for them, they lost their entire leadership group this past year. Several juniors and seniors as well as both quality goal tenders. They didn’t really get much in the portal, a big mistake on Gabinets part. He will need to learn from this. They sit two years from competitive, and that is if this freshmen class hangs in. These days who knows…

Same formula as always:   Play Sioux hockey, play a full 60 minutes, stay out of the box, write your mother, wash your hands before eating . . . .

You forgot to have them brush their hair and straighten their ties…

    Haha could you imagine one!

Oh god, the team has a bad period and the board comes apart. Can you just imagine 6th place in the NCHC? There would be pitchforks and torches moving in harmony across the plains... Shouts of "crucify heeeeeem!"
