If you are talking about the X at the Final Five, I 100% agree with you.
-
It certainly comes from both sides. That said: I was at a local establishment on saturday, and before the game 1 drunk gopher fan was mouthing off to a large group of sioux fans. All it would have taken was for one of these guys to snap, and this young man could have been seriously hurt, and someone could have been in jail. Again, after the game, another single gopher fan was being very very mouthy (about non hockey things, think "hick comments") this guy had a group of 10 guys watching him and wanting to get him, but cooler heads prevailed. Maybe it is my older age, but I see crap like this and just have to shake my head. Get well soon Jason Smith.

WHAT is up with the crowd and ESPECIALLY the students?
Let'sGoHawks! replied to SiouxMeNow's topic in Football
Have football on thursday nights occasionally, thursday is day 1 of the weekend for most students. Texas AM Kingsville game last year was on a thursday and had a great atmosphere. -
I don't get it, you said this last year too, and I don't think it was to AZ directly. Why would it be easy to spot you in a crowd of 11,500? Elaborate.

I hear this a lot too. The population of the metro area is 3.5 million. They should have no problem selling out each and every gopher game, regardless of the supposed plethora of things to do in the area. The "big city" vs. "small city" argument used to piss me off to no end. It doesn't bother me anymore, different people enjoy different things. That said, I enjoy 1-2 vikings games a year, and a few Twins games. I attend the same amount of pro games that my friends who live in the cities metro area do. Yeah, I have to drive 5 hours to see em, but my day to day life, in MY OPINION, is so much better here. Things are cheaper, there is a 5-10 minute commute to work, people seem nicer, and I have a real sense of pride in my community. Grand Forks has its own identity. People who live in the suburbs such as Savage, Andover, Blaine, have their own cities technically, their own governments, but they are seen by everyone else simply as "the cities", a neverending network of urban sprawl. I enjoy my stand-alone city here in the "middle of nowhere". The outdoor activities I enjoy don't hurt either! Again, to each their own.

The guys in my group with only green or black jerseys will be leaving them at home and wearing the Sioux shop white shirts.
-
Now THAT is funny.

UND to blame!? NOW I'VE HEARD IT ALL!!!!
-
Next week has to have more NDSU "presidential humor."
-
Thank you once again!
-
Again, the same tired ignorant comments. I don't know many people "forced" to live in Grand Forks...maybe some Air Force Base personnel and their families. Quite often, people are "forced" to live in areas like the Twin Cities for job purposes.

Since the holy cross game is so "old", why not relive some more recent events, which are SIOUX v. GOPHERS: Bina Porter- Season Over Six Six, part II Students Students, part II And before any of you gopher fans copy me, thinking you are soooo clever by posting Blake Wheeler's circus act goal, here you go: Wheeler's Lucky One

It's tuesday, and FINALLY this thread is getting nasty. I can't wait til friday! GO SIOUX!!!!!
-
I always loved that one!
-
I heard he will be in the stands right next to the Gopher penalty box.
-
The number of gopher fans at the Ralph last year had to be the lowest that I have seen in years. What makes you think this series will be any different?
-
I really think the Athletic Department needs to offer some sort of deal on tickets for this game. How about Buy one, get one free? $5 seats? SOMETHING that will get butts in the stands. How about show your friday sioux hockey ticket, get into game free?

More facts about USF: They are ranked #1 in NAIA They have applied for NCAA Division II status 20 wins in a row 2 of the last 3 NAIA Titles Have outscored opponents 347-33 so far this year Have under 2000 students There is a real good chance they will have more fans that we have students at the Al this saturday.
-
350 tickets sold, another 100 ordered. This team will have close to 500 in our building. THAT is impressive.
-
They have already sold 350 seats to their fans, with another 100 available. USF will be bringing close to 500 fans to this game...that is impressive for an NAIA school.
-
Agreed. I am very worried about this weekend.
-
Another thing, you talk about not living in the past, how it means nothing...also, you say how lame it is Sioux fans bring up the Holy Cross debacle. Why then, do you have a UNH guy celebrating a win over UND as your avatar?
-
Did he tell you that after you rolled out of his bed this morning??? Why not start Patterson one of the nights?
-
According to the USCHO boxscore, Kangas didn't play in the exhibition game. His presumed start in GF on friday will be his first action between the pipes this season...

Good call, I didn't see your post before my last one.
