I am pro-Fighting Sioux hockey. I think we all are in this thread. Instead of focusing on all of the differences, we should try to unite. I think that is what both sides basically want, especially the students wanting more atmosphere out of the general public.

I agree that everyone should be able to enjoy the game. It would have been possible for students to stand, and others to sit. Unfortunately the arena was poorly designed for anyone to stand. The best option is for the students to be on the end, but they will still be in front of suites. The argument that people are trying to make is that it is assumed that the students should just sit, and it would be horrible to suggest that the general public made any sacrifice by having their end seats moved. The swearing is something that can't be enjoyed by everyone. If it is there, everyone will hear it.

Maybe you could do some research on the history of sports. Even though there were places to sit, they did not sit during the activity. The seats can be used when there is a break from gameplay.

If you go with that argument, you are just going to start the comparison of tuition versus membership dues. You are also going to start the argument of what opportunities are given to the public by the university.

Where does it say that tickets allow you to see the game by sitting down? Did the students pick where they sat or how the arena was designed? How is it respectful that people that paid for a ticket are forced to sit down?

I don't remember any complaints when Ed Belfour recorded a video for the Gopher games and he said he wanted the team to open up a can of whoop***.

What changes can be made to fix the bad behaviors from the general public?

Quit socializing and you might hear it. They also talk about the Fighting Sioux name at each game. I always hear it.

I do. I do have one question though. Everyone that has a ticket, has paid for a service. The refs are a part of that service, and they are held accountable for their actions. They are cheered and jeered for their performance. If the ref makes a bad call, are fans technically able to complain? I know it says something about comments directed towards officials. What is the exact wording on what is not allowed?

One area that would likely improve swearing is how students are treated. When students are treated like criminals when they walk in the door, they become more irritable right away and that could be contributing to some of the swearing. It does no good to lecture the students that are doing nothing wrong. The ones that are causing problems are likely not listening. Quit threatening students and start removing those that cause problems.

That message doesn't need to be there. I'm not sure I understand what the movement even means. Are they saying students would stand then? The swearing issue needs to be addressed seperately. The idea of using the band to help with swearing is idiotic.

First off, I highly doubt that this will happen. Second, to say that moving seats increases swearing is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Third, swearing and problematic behavior was addressed with the video idea. All students would be warned, and then the seats could be taken away. Again, this plan will not happen anyway. I am just surprised by some of the comments people make here.
