  1. Can’t find anything about Swine Flu. But the CDC's criteria in determining Covid deaths is somewhat similar to their criteria for the flu, albeit a little more accurate. Like Covid-19, if your body is weakened by the flu and you die of a heroin overdose, the flu will be listed as one of the causes of death. That said, because the flu isn’t always detectable, the CDC uses a modeling strategy that pro-rates flu deaths based on a death to hospitalization ratio.
  2. Of course it's not a exclusive comorbidity, as I pointed out in later posts. But obesity may now only affect men, which would effectively cut the Obesity-Covid risk factor more than 1/2. Not to mention most casualties aren't obese blimps due to the age/death demographics. Why do you think Italy was hit so hard despite having an extremely fit and non-fat population? Answer: They have a gigantic elderly population and Covid hit them with little warning (no preventative measures in place). Either way, the point of preventative measures is to limit the spread to others. Nobody has the right to put others at maximum risk; especially considering it takes only one chance encounter to kill someone.
  3. On the topic of obesity's effect on Covid. This is quite interesting: One of the Biggest COVID Risks Actually Only Affects Men, Study Finds https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/wellness/one-of-the-biggest-covid-risks-actually-only-affects-men-study-finds/ar-BB1807Ns
  4. Correct. It shows that, even with copious amounts af preventative measures in place, the Covid pandemic is producing a higher death-rate than the obesity epidemic (which has few to no restrictions). Also, considering the main age demographic of Covid dead, I'm not sure obesity plays a overly-large factor in Covid deaths. Most morbidly obese people aren't making it to 70+ as it is.
  5. Right now? Probably not adhering to complete Covid safety recommendations is a bigger risk factor (which mask usage is a part of). We’re 6 months into Covid and, even with a shut-down and restrictions in place, we’re pushing 200K dead. 300K die annually due to the obesity epidemic . https://www.wvdhhr.org/bph/oehp/obesity/mortality.htm#:~:text=According to the National Institutes, the obesity epidemic (57). And do you have a link regarding that Biden statement? If true, that'd be utterly asinine.
  6. Comparing a contagious and non-contagious health malady is about as dumb as it gets. You don’t wanna abide by obesity recommendations? Fine, have fun slowly killing yourself. You don’t wanna abide by covid recommendations? Not happening, you’re escalating the risk of inadvertently spreading the virus to others.
  7. That’s nothing compared to the mental gymnastics of the evangelicals in their support of Trump. “Er, uh, we fully understand he’s the most un-christian person ever, but......” But whatever, the party of Wall Street and big business has always exploited Trump Trash people, They’re just too stupid to realize it, even to the extent of voting for a shady real estate mogul. That said, it’s understandable. The GOP is astute enough to throw these people a bone on certain social issues to keep them in their back pocket.
  8. The Vatican is requiring you to do the opposite. VATICAN CITY -- Pope Francis praised the “heroic service” of health care workers during the coronavirus pandemic, but also took a dig at some conservative priests who defied safety measures — calling their complaints over church closures “adolescent.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/fox6now.com/2020/06/23/pope-francis-compares-priests-who-defied-pandemic-safety-measures-to-adolescents/amp/?client=safari
  9. This isn't brain surgery. He’s pointing out that, although Antifa’s shenanigans grab the headlines, their actions are localized and limited to a micro-section of Portland. Meanwhile the crimes of transient junkies are more wide-spread and affect more people. But whatever, the shtick is getting old. Yea we get it already.... all of Portland is on fire and Antifa and BLM will soon invade the country (with angle grinders and leaf blowers) if the current administration is voted out of office. Run for the hills everybody!!!
  10. I understand the politics behind the right-wing's push to use current social unrest to position themselves as the 'law and order' party; espousing that crime and violence will prevail if liberals take office. But you do realize 8 of the top 10 most dangerous states (murder and violent crime rate) are staunch conservative ones. Right? https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/01/13/most-dangerous-states-in-america-violent-crime-murder-rate/40968963/
  11. If this country needed an enema, look no further than Southern red states who are by and large (and historically) the poorest, most backwards and crime ridden places in the nation. 9 of the top 10 poorest states are staunchly Conservative; yet these mental midgets are screaming "We hate socialism!” while simultaneously having no objections to sucking on the nipple of the federal government for economic survival. The South is one giant welfare case, always has been going back to the end of the civil war. I mean, KY, MS, and LA rely on the feds for more than 40 percent of their revenue. lol The ignorance and/or hypocrisy is astounding. Perhaps we should build a wall around Cletus, Jasper and Cooter instead of Mexico. Let these states have fun with their evangelicalism, confederate flags, 3rd world economies and trump worship. The rest of this great country can proceed with modernity without them dragging us back 100 years.
  12. Good points. The GOP will undoubtedly drop their radical nut-cases once Trumpism is over. They have no other choice. With the oncoming seismic shift in American demographics, continuing to pander to the 'white workingman's grievances' platform ain't gonna cut it. Trump's base is rapidly aging while the future of this country lies in our multi-culturalism. Unless the GOP changes alongside this demographic shift (particularly social policy), they'll be relegated to the C team. I do see the GOP transforming into a moderate but fiscally conservative party. Interestingly, for all the crap conservatives give illegals/immigrants from south of the border, the saving grace for the GOP could be the future Latino vote. Those cultures are collectively quite right-leaning. The GOP would be smart to start catering to those demographics rather than thoroughly demonizing them.
  13. Nah, the 'violent liberal' shtick is the only talking point the GOP has remaining. This nation is such a disaster there's nothing else to promote other than a law and order platform. Well, that and manipulating the voting process. Remember kids, a vote for Biden is a vote for anarchy. Antifa is gonna rape the horses and ride off on your daughters!
  14. It's mind-blowing. The blatant disregard for democracy is astounding. "Let's ban Vote By Mail because it's corrupt....errr well except for Florida. In Florida it's safe and secure!!!" Words fail me.
  15. Trump actually said Ivanka was hot? Jesus Christ. I guess it goes a long way in explaining why his base likes him.
  16. Pretty much. At some point the GOP needs to step in and say enough is enough. Politics is politics, but when you start ****ing with the foundations of our election process, equality in the voting process, and foreign influence in our elections. . It's been a long-time coming though. From last year:
  17. Well of course. Voting manipulation has always occurred; but it’s been limited to gerrymandering, etc, in recent years. However when you start limiting people's access to cast a vote (while not limiting others) you're screwing with everything this country stands for. Unfortunately this country has become so numb to the lunacy in the WH it's just another day at the office. "Meh, it’s just Trump being Trump..” ****ing disgraceful. But whatever, I guess it’s better than the Antifa Army that's gonna invade every city if Biden is elected.
  18. And it starts…… Yesterday Trump encouraged Floridians to vote by mail, yet simultaneously filed a lawsuit against Nevada over its plans to send absentee ballots to all eligible voters. The WH is attempting to manipulate our voting rights; they're not even hiding it anymore. Real conservatives should be utterly outraged over this.
  19. You people are on a different planet. Even though mask usage is up, it’s no secret that most outbreaks can be traced to stupidity; i.e people not adhering to safety protocol. Is there any wonder why even Republican states are mandating masks now, as are 160 other nations around the world? Those brilliant southern states opened up with little mask usage regulations or social distancing requirements. Only when (surprise, surprise) Covid got out of control did those mental midgets reverse policy. Is mask usage (in addition to to social distancing, washing hands) a solution? Not even close. However, when all these preventive measures are implemented together, it does reduce one's chances of contracting Covid.
  20. Here’s a hilarious story about FOX News...... I lived in Madison WI during those protests against Gov. Walker’s union busting in 2011. The Protests were huge, but very peaceful. As expected FOX needed to portray it as a “violent liberal protest’’, so they used doctored footage in their broadcast. But they got caught. Those imbeciles used footage of a scuffle at some other protest, however palm trees were clearly visible in the background. Haha! Stephen Colbert was the first person to catch it. It’s still on youtube.
  21. You would be correct If he did, in fact, interview people. But he didn't. Video that surfaced as part of a lawsuit clearly shows as such. He hung around this particular hate group, laughing, while they planned an assault on antifa members. He then filmed the attack, and edited the footage to appear like Antifa were the instigators. it’s why he’s pretty much been dropped by respectable right wing outlets.
  22. Says someone who continuously posts content from this guy: Andy Ngo, the right-wing journalist who was embraced by mainstream republicans may suddenly be persona non grata among conservatives. Nearly all mentions of Ngo were scrubbed from the upscale right-wing publication Quillette after a newly-released video showed him acting friendly with members of Patriot Prayer, a far-right hate group. https://www.salon.com/2019/08/28/right-wing-journalist-andy-ngo-outed-video-shows-him-hanging-out-with-far-right-hate-group/
  23. This country is in such peril, it's the only talking point the GOP has remaining. Sweet Jesus, if you read certain right-wing outlets you'd think violent liberals are invading the entire country. Run for the hills everybody, Antifa is coming! Trump knows this very well. It's why he advocates a law and order platform yet frequently provokes civic discord.
  24. Let me guess. They’re probably mostly idealistic kids….20 somethings. As long as they’re not hurting anybody, who gives a crap what they do. Most of them will grow out of it; like the majority of people involved in the radical elements 60s generation did. They’re essentially the equivalent of these folks on the other side of the isle, who, unfortunately, are collectively much older and will not outgrow their naivety. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzDhm808oU4 Like I usually say… same stick, different end.
  25. Perhaps a more applicable photo would resemble what this great nation has been reduced to under Trump's Presidency; with juxtaposed pictures of people out of work, Covid dead, protests in the streets, bread lines, rioters vs police, paramilitaries in capitol buildings, a citizenry completely divided, other countries laughing at us, Trump waiving a ****ing bible in the air. Yea, this is us. Quick question. Has the swamp been drained? Is America great again yet? Asking for a friend.
