The phantom spearing/DQ that was called on Friday night (on Canady).

So what went on with the review of the incident (that didn't happen)? Any word?

A couple weeks ago it seemed that the Sioux, although not playing well, could still back their way into the NCAA's. That's no longer the case. They'll have to win their way in, or stay at home. Duluth looks very good, and should provide a tough opponent to start the winning streak, if it's going to happen. Still a bit hard to grasp that sweeping Wisco may be a necessity. Not a given after watching their performance against SCSU (who, right now, is in the position to visit the REA in the playoffs).

Typical crap from the minnie contingent. Read it here, post it on uscho Impressive, Hammy

Missed this one; just stopped in to check the thread. 16 saves, 5 goals. Was this a goaltending nightmare again?

What are you talking about. Go back to POI where you can spew all you want. I don't post there when you and others run down the Sioux. In fact you're one of the prime POI posters making condescending comments regarding the Sioux, often in threads that have nothing to do with the Sioux. Knock yourself out over there, it's your board. But you're not welcome here if you can't take Goph critisism. I believe my post pointed out that AR's could not make calls, albeit good ones, against the Gophs a couple years ago without getting suspended, while last night, a phantom call gets made against Canady. Can't read anywhere that I said it affected the game's outcome, nor that the Gophers had any effect on the game. Funny how you feel the need to "protect" the Gophs on a Sioux board, given the hundreds of anti-Sioux posts and posters on POI.

Also few third period chances, the period the Sioux owned for much of the year. Seems that the goal scoring got used up in the 8-0 win.
-
Kato fourth liner gets his first goal of the year to put MSU up 2-1. Under two minutes left, 33 secs left. Ranfranz has been pulled. 15 sec left. Sioux can't get out of their own end. MSU wins 2-1. Once again, Sioux can't score.

Beer and lap dances in the kitchen? What does one do in the lounge and cafe?

Kato sounds fired up and this is their weekend (as well as their last series against CC) to prove their position in the league and winning streak is not a fluke. Time for the Sioux to put them in their place, and get a lock on third place at the least. Find it interesting the Denver's McKenzie is the WCHA defensive player of the week. Tackling paid off in the individual award category also (Caldwell, however, was much better at the tackling).

Gotta love this from Jim's link: In hockey you can lose, but still retain, some sense of your manhood by beating the hell out of the fast-skating, sharp-shooting, pretty boy talent that just lit up the scoreboards on you. You get a stick. There are many things you can do when locked in the cage with a stick and/or fists. It is also much more entertaining to see a team lose as long as they are beating the crap out of someone. PCM, learned this stickwork at SDSU, eh?

Watching the Friday game on TV, it was unbelievable what went on, far beyond normal clutch and grab hockey. Denver was literally tackling Parise and Bochenski, rapping arms around their necks, and throwing them to the ice, away from the puck, in the Sioux's offensive zone. None were called. I saw none of the same at the other end of the ice, although Denver fans were saying things were missed both ways, so I'm sure some of the normal hooking and holding was done without calls. Parise could not effectively forecheck because he was thrown to the ice before he reached the puck, every time he went in deep. Tough when you have to try to deke the defense without the puck to avoid getting tackled. I've never seen the inteference, clutch and grab game taken to that extent. I've also never seen even the worst (IMO) of referees allow that stuff to go on. Normally I prefer the "let them play" hockey, but that was so far beyond normal clutch and grab that it was ridiculous. It is not surprising the the top Sioux scorers didn't get on the board; they were literally tackled at every opportunity. And there was no subtlety to the tackling, it was glaringly obvious. It was different than football, however, since you generally have to have the ball to get tackled. It will be interesting if Denver plays the same game in the coming weeks, against other WCHA teams with speed, MN and CC. Would not expect them to get away with it. If they do, they could get home ice; if they don't, both CC and MN will blow them away with special teams. In spite of the tackling, the Sioux would have easily won both if not for stellar goaltending by the Denver tandem. And will teams such as Wisco take note. They are brutally slow but haven't played their clutch and grab game of the past. Don't believe Eaves will allow it. But it is their best chance to beat the Sioux if they get a tackling-friendly referee. Actually, if my team was the outmanned, outskilled team and Anderson got the job, I'd certainly try mirroring what Denver did to even up the game.

If you go by JBB's grasp of the English language and its spelling, everyone here is spelling poorly, except JBB, of course.

A sweep at Mankato is necessary to get back into the top 3. Seemed impossible that the Sioux would be in this position a couple weeks ago, but 1-4-1 will do that. Got to get back to winning. Sioux will have to continue losing to finish worse than fourth. Sioux control their own destiny to finish third, but need help to finish higher than that.
-
Having been able to watch last night's game on TV, it was way beyond clutch and grab. Outright tackling people away from the puck. Anderson allowed it; that's how it goes.
-
That will drop the Sioux to 4th place, and now they're in a battle for home ice. May come down to having to sweep Wisco to get a home playoff series.

Dub... steals the game for Denver.
