  1. That was a good clean, hard hit, nothing more. The Finn didn't even hit his head on the ice, the hold his head thing was just to draw a penalty, and, as usual, it worked to perfection for BU.
  2. That's correct, both feeds from midco, and both directv transmissions no doubt from the same transponder (FCS and NESN), so I think you're right about the NESN logo on FCS. So, I think NESN and FCS were equally as poor, as they both likely came from the same place. And, from wherever dish delivered NESN, it was terrible as well. I haven't seen anything in SD from Dish that is a bad as that was. Midco needs to start over, they obviously haven't learned, yet, how to deliver their own TV production.
  3. That was something, might add had he not been "cross-checked in the back". BU did a lot of hooking, holding, and cross checking when UND put on the pressure from mid-game on; the lopsidedness in penalties should have been even greater.
  4. I saw only the NESN feed and it was terrible, even when it wasn't flickering, it was dark and almost unviewable. I can't believe FCS was even worse.
  5. How long must we wait for midco to provide a good sports station. Give it up and go back to providing cable TV, let some professionals do TV.
  6. O'reagon should have been out before he scored. The Finn holds his head, gets the call, then scores a goal. 5 minutes are given only if the player is hurt, or in this case, fakes it.
  7. The quality for other cable co's buying the feed is also much poorer than for those that have midco cable. I assume the other cableco's are getting the feed from satellite, rather than fiber that supplies all of midco.
  8. I don't use aps for UND sports, just use a wireless connected notebook PC with hdmi out, hooked up to a big screen TV. I do use aps in a samsung bluray player, but none of them are for UND or Big Sky sports. You could, however, use a notebook and stream from that, and, if you want some TV as well, get a Samsung product (smart TV) or another piece of hardware that uses aps, and pay for hulu plus (7.99/month) for your other TV programs. If you're near enough a city to use an ota antenna and get your local networks, you'll have all the TV you want for very little $. Of course, this won't get you ROOT or any other sports networks.
  9. Agreed, and the absence of FTA, which we've had for so many years, adds to the problems. I've said this before, but unless midco can swing a deal with satellite TV providers (dish, directv), which I can't imagine happening, lots of us will be back to just one option (web streaming), and hoping it's a better product than now. The HD Big Sky stream yesterday of the UNA/UCD game was excellent, and very near FTA quality, as was the NBCSports stream of UMD/Notre Dame hockey. I hope UND's is as good, and not some year, but very soon, if not immediately.
  10. That is because all (or almost all) Griz games are on ROOT. The Root deal is with the Big Sky, but the telecasts are always Montana (and sometimes Montana State).
  11. Golladay had a foot in; that was a touchdown, now OT is the best to hope for.

  20. Here is the bottom line, forget all the production problems, picture complaints, and everything else. After this year, a whole lot of us (thousands) can no longer get Sioux sports (without directv, that starts this year). We're not in midco's footprint so we can't pay for it, other than a couple games on CBSSN (if we pay dish or directv plus sports paks), we can't pay for it and get it on dish/directv. FTA is gone, so, Sioux hockey is gone, permanently, unless midco can sell their channel to dish/directv. If you think all of us are happy about that, you'd be wrong. It really makes no difference how good the picture/production becomes if we can't watch it anyway.
  21. The game/portions you didn't see were sent out in a different video format, that was only available on midco cable systems. It's possible arvig is connected to midco via fiber, and may not have to take signal from satellite downlinks, like others do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_subsampling
  22. Exceeded by your outrage at the outrage. Don't understand, when you can go to the games or get a good TV picture in GF, why you're so negative about those of us that would like to watch but can't, or when we can have to watch a crappy picture. We're waiting, but not that patiently.
  23. Sic, I'm not complaining about any of the above, just about the quality of the picture for anyone outside of midco cable (that can actually get it). I don't know if other cable co's use satellite (certainly directv does) to get the feed, but that may be a reason why it's so much worse than the old FSSN (although satellite feeds don't explain it either since the FSSN, via satellite FTA, was very good). Otherwise, there is no logical explanation that I can think of. Also, with all midco cable areas connected by fiber, the midco video is no doubt as good as last year. But for other cable co's and satellite, it doesn't come close to the old FSSN.
  24. Triple digits, and not low, at a minimum. You are obviously not aware of how many people who live/in near cities do not pay for TV at all, but pick up lots of channels with a simple ota antenna. Many of those (not all Sioux fans) add an FTA system for more free channels. There are hundreds of Sioux fans with systems, and thousands more who have become Sioux fans watching them FTA. There are Sioux fans in/near Grand Forks who get their TV this way. In the TC, you can pick up 40+ channels ota.
  25. Those reports are simply wrong, for not only directv but other non midco cable co's that buy the feed. NCC cable at Ray buys the channel, the picture has been horrible, absolutely nowhere near close to last year's quality. On Friday night, however, we had a very clear blank screen for 3 hours, even though the game was on the NCC schedule. Maybe it's good for fiber feeds to all midco cities, but for everyone else, it's poor.
