That, and guys who transfer seem to frequently transfer again or quit football more frequently than the average recruit.  Typically a guy like Zeb would bolt after not being named starter over a freshman.  Why did he transfer from ISU in the first place?

Heard through the grapevine, Zeb transferred because he aspires to be a college football coach and thought NDSU would be a great place to learn and maybe play someday.

They may not win it this year but this isn't a normal year. They lost more than 1st round QB and LT. They lost a first round LB (Cox), another starting LB and very likely a starting CB, among possibly 2 more starting OL that may opt op of the spring season.

It isn't a normal year for anyone so please don't already use that as an excuse if the thundering terds don't bring home their 291234th national championship. Everyone is losing players. That is why NDSU has been special is their recruit well and have the depth to replace those players. I've said it since the hire if anyone is going to stop this train from rolling it is Entz. Arrogance and assumptions on his part will get the best of him in the end.

  3. Easy to use the "rust" excuse, but from my observations NDSU didn't look like themselves against CA. I believe Roehl was trying too hard to showcase Lance's throwing ability and that was one of the reasons CA was in the game the entire time, but it just wasn't the dominance we have seen from them in the future. I thought their defense looked strong. #52 and #25 were the standouts in my opinion. All in all, NDSU will probably still win the MVFC as I'm sure their depth is too difficult for anyone else to overcome, but that being said it looks like a great year for UND to be entering the mighty, holy land that is the MVFC. Maybe, just maybe, we have a slight chance to hang with the best of the best every week.

There were 20 NFL draft scouts at the game Saturday. Why do you suppose they were all wasting their time (during a world-wide pandemic) on a "solid" QB. They could have concluded that without coming all the way to Fargo.

Also, what exactly are your credentials as a NFL draft analyst? As a rule of thumb, when most experts disagree with you, it's probably you that are wrong.

Grow up Peter Pan. My credentials are the same as yours, neither of us have any. What I am saying is that if I am a team in need of the QB I'm not taking him in the first round. As a matter of fact, I'm not considering any FCS player. I am looking at the blue bloods of big time D1 football where the risk is far less, rather than a team who plays Missouri State yearly. Just my thought process, but you can having your Thundering turd in Lance and I'll take Lawerence or Fields. Thanks.

  5. If Lance is a first round talent, I don't know what to think about the evaluation of college prospects anymore. Roehl was obviously trying to show case his ability as a pocket passer early and well he show cased it and in my opinion it should scare away NFL organizations that saw him as a first round pick. I am not doubting that he has the ability to play in the NFL, but he has played in a safe offense, with a dominant offensive line his whole career at NDSU which isn't his fault, but in my opinion the ability to run like he did is needed, but it is FCS talent he is running against. All in all, he's a solid QB, but NFL first rounder........

Buy or Sell we see some new jersey’s and/or helmets this season, whenever that is. I only ask because Bemidji State can somehow manage to have 3 different helmets but we can’t?

Here's my take, BSU is an average NSIC team that has more money than most because of success generous alumni. Maybe they should spend the money elsewhere because it certainly isn't helping their production on the field.

I will admit those jerseys are great though.

It’s pretty snaggy so bring lots of jigs. Jig and minnows or plastics will catch a variety of fish. Pop it off the bottom. I have fished above the dam for cats and caught my personal best twenty pounder

I went last week and it was still really high, I would assume by the end of the week it will be easier to fish. I tried the South End by Adams Farm and there were a couple people fishing it, so maybe that is a spot to go back to as well.

Yup.  There is a road that you can take to get there.  You can't access from inside Riverside Park...at least not without a lengthy walk.  You'd have to take Mill Road and then I'm not sure where you turn?  Maybe Red Dot rd?  Maybe someone else can help with the directions.

I'm not much of a fisherman and have never fished there.  I spend alot of time running/biking on the greenway and just see lots of people fishing that area.

Well hey I appreciate it regardless!

Awesome. I will test this out this week. Looks like my kind of place. Thank you.

Would this be near Riverside Park?

I believe they both also dealt with injuries this year. I wouldn't assume their lack of progress was because they didn't develop. Neither plays Gue's position either. He split time with Rocky last year and Witz did that this year. If they don't step up next year, I expect the Bison to struggle. They have both shown signs to be very good though.

Not a Bison or Sioux fan. Just a fan of ND college sports.

Nah man go look at all your post. You sh*t green and gold just like the rest of em.

Im not sure hes a good guy. The actions that are described dont show that. The fact that someone finally came forward with these probably means there were more that didn't want the unnecessary attention. I get that it is one persons word against someone elses but Fallyn also put her name on it and hasnt backed down on it.

I'm with ya here 100%. I've heard from numerous people like 10-12 that he is not the type of person you want leading a program. Always feel for someone when they lose their job, but remember he is getting $80k as a parting gift and that is more than most make in a year.....

I'm interested to see how many girls transfer out, especially if the NCAA one-time transfer legislation passes

My guess would be zero. I would guess those girls are ready for a change of scenery and most of them came for the school, chance to play D1, and overall feel for the school. I would be shocked if any of their number one reason to come to UND was Brew.

  13. I've heard numerous times that Brew was very tough to play for and not incredibly gracious towards his players. I'm far from a "everyone gets a metal" advocate, but in this day in agree athletes don't respond to getting ripped apart time and time again. Eyes were opened when Freidge left and I bet she doesn't feel too bad for the guy.....

Doesn't the MVFC usually get a higher percentage of teams into the playoffs, though?  Kind of like the NCHC - it's tough, but there is still opportunity.

That is very true. Look at SDSU getting seeded this year......Anyone who watched them after their QB went did could tell you they weren't a complete team BUT they played in the MVFC

I swear must be the only one here that doesn't !@#$ himself on a daily basis at the thought of joining the MVFC..........

I've said it for years. Top to Bottom the Big Sky is just as good if not better......look at the bottom teams in the MVFC they are far from solid......

Remember, the topic of the thread isn't whether Bubba should remain in his job, it's whether he deserved a contract extension based upon the body of work so far.

It would have made more sense to wait one more year to see what happens in the MVFC.

Agreed, as much as I like our current staff, I don't love the timing of this.

    ...because he is visiting LSU?

In my mind it's the only thing that makes sense if he really wants to boost the draft stock. I think overall he is stupid for leaving with the amount of risk, but if he truly wants to prove himself go show you can stand out with the best.

Yes, I did four semesters of 30+ hours a wekk of free work to start my career. Followed by a very stressful, even lower-paying job than a football coach.

At no point have I questioned anyone's work ethic, livelihood or well-being. I have questioned whether the average level of success achieved by the football team is deserving of an extension for the head coach.

While technically a 37-32 record is above average, I don't believe it is adequate as you called it. Zero playoff wins in six seasons is not adequate. I know Bubba will get us to the playoffs 3 out of 5 seasons, but I want better. And I think the UND football team, fans and alumni should to.

So you did an internship and that still wasn't enough to get you a decent job? Sorry about that.

In my mind, when you are "calling for someone's head", as you are, you are questioning his "work ethic, livelihood and well-being". I would say if you approved of the three previous in Bubba and his staff you wouldn't want them canned.

They took over a program going no where and now it is going somewhere. I like where it is going and that's my opinion. I'm glad you have an opinion, but I tend to disagree and believe comparing a sport of football to a business in unrealistic.

I appreciate your positivity. Let’s just keep this real. Bubba is certainly prone to making mistakes - we’ve seen it. As such, UND is a 0.500 program right now. It sucks and the sentimental posts about Bubba’s authenticity and passion come across as desperate. There is no prerequisite that everyone who posts on here must be a former successful DI coach. So many posts criticizing the “credentials” of posters on a blog. Man, that’s funny stuff.

Let’s just see how year #1 goes in the MVFC and go from there. Obviously UND doesn’t have the money nor the facilities at present to hire a bigger name coach, so Bubba is the leader for the foreseeable future. It’s more necessity than choice with Chaves understanding that situation and thus extending Bubba. Fortunately,  UND football has been making improvements slowly but surely over the past 2 seasons. Let’s hope the trend continues in 2020. Once HPC phase II comes online, then the future will hold more realistic possibilities for UND.

Agreed. My main thought, I would rather go into the MVFC with the coaching staff we have than a brand new group of guys who might have zero experience in FCS football.
