That was probably the best D class in NCHC history. If that’s what you’re banking on, again, best of luck. Regardless of what happens, there will be huge turnover. I prefer hitting the portal for a least two proven guys over all freshmen.

But we have to stop relying on the quick hit feel good portal. It’s an addictive drug and those are not good in the long run.
I know what you are saying but rolling out a bunch of freshmen isn’t a key to success either. 4 is a turnover machine and 24 was a healthy scratch at the end. Hitting the portal hard for dmen is a must in my opinion.

Hit the portal hard and early for dmen. Don’t sit on it like they did going into this year. There’s no reason we shouldn’t end up with the top portal guys by enticing them with huge minutes and a good forward group.

Gaber has a hard time finding open ice to get his shot off. He has no business going pro. He’s a one-dimensional Shane Gersich. Not to be a jerk, but it’s true. Might as well stick around and enjoy the college experience as long as possible.

He’s a guy not playing his role because others failed to develop. Ideally senden and hain are playing shutdown roles in the bottom 6 like they have their entire careers here. I think the coaching staff had guys like Constantini and Schmaltz playing top-6 roles and contributing much more on the score sheet. Nobody improved from last year to this year outside of a couple guys (Jandric, Gaber).

Played well enough for a sweep. St. Cloud fortunate to walk away with any points tonight let alone the majority of them.

The good news is for the next 3 weekends my expectations are extremely low and the outcomes don’t matter. Enjoy the small things they say.

This team needs a massive overhaul next season and not only because of players graduating/going pro, but because a lot of the remaining pieces just aren’t very good. No reason for guys like Frisch, Kleven, Gaber, etc. to come back.

Terrible call. Accidental contact. Surprised they didn’t give Kleven another 5 and a game for the Strinden collision with the Miami guy.

On the first goal…how do two forwards end up below the goal line when defensive coverage has been a focus for weeks? I’d start sitting guys like 9 and 22 to send a message. This season is toast anyways. We keep hearing how playing at UND isn’t a privilege, but I guess now it’s fine to only play on one end of the rink.

DU and Clown would both be licking their chops at an opportunity to play UND post-season. Unfortunately for them it’ll be a much better club.

With the portal there will always appear to be a shiny option available. I’m sure the coaching staff has learned that just because someone was good with another team doesn’t mean they jump right in and have that same success with a new team.

Reasonable take. I’ve counted them out too early before, including last year, but they’re running out of runway with a plane full of women’s luggage. (No offense to any women lurking these forums).

I don’t think this is a conditioning issue as much is it is a letdown issue. There’s no resolve with this team. They aren’t resilient, they just seem to be fine with laying down. I’m craving a Torts type post game interview from Mr Berry where he just goes nuclear and calls out the effort and the give a f.

Dominate possession and zone time but the breakdowns defensively are so so bad. Hard for me to blame goaltending tonight, lots of creativity on the few chances the Clowns have had.

Same crap, different game. Brutal in their own end and goaltending like the 57th ranked team in the country that they are. Bast is the only D/G I wouldn’t mind seeing back next year. Everyone else on the back end can move along.

What if he wasn’t guaranteed any of that so he decided to look for those opportunities elsewhere? Pure speculation on my part, but what if something like that was the case. Very interested to hear what the story is.
