  1. I've thought about this too, kind of like the English Premier League. But the problem is that teams change year to year becasue of recruiting / players leaving. So a very good SCSU in 2001 may look like crap in 2002.
  2. Keystone?
  3. The only question is does Toews have a condo in Chicago yet? It did cross my mind that this may be a better year for Duncan to cash in than if he were not playing without Oshie / Toews.
  4. I wouldn't be so confident that he will be a junior / senior. He wasn't drafted because of his size, but in the new NHL, I suspect there might be some teams willing to throw the max at him to get him into their system.
  5. They just didn't see him, he was standing under the table...
  6. Fire up Austin Powers: "One Hundred Billion Dollars..."
  7. Just like city league Basketball. 8 plays 9 and the 1 kills the winner immediately afterward.
  8. Subtle , nice...
  9. I really don't want to see the WCHA any bigger, in fact I would like to see it smaller. I consider there to be 3 western leagues, CCHA, WCHA, and CHA. BSU and Wayne State are trying to get out of the CHA, in part because the league is on borrowed time with only five teams. I would suggest that strengthening the CHA is a better choice than further expanding the CCHA and WCHA. Here is what I would do. 1) Move MSU-M and AA to the CHA. 2) Move Nebraska-Omaha, LSSU, Bowling Green, and Ferris State to the CHA. 3) Sign 10 year home/home or alternating year series with all members of the CHA and the big name CCHA / WCHA school. This would leave 8 teams in the WCHA, which would allow for a restoration of 4 games per year between some traditional rivals. This would leave 8 teams in the CCHA, which would allow for a restoration of 4 games per year between some traditional rivals. This would temporarily place 11 teams in the CHA, including some good rivalries. I suspect that a couple (at least one) of the CHA teams may move to an Eastern conference. Because the all conferences would be at 10 or less, there is room for new programs to join D1. Most traditional rivalries would be kept, and the CHA would have good talent, good rivalries, and would be a legit conference. Some teams that are unlikely to never compete in their current conferences could develop in the new CHA. So why MSU and AA? UND, UMTC, UW, UMD, MTU, DU, CC are long established traditional rivals. Of the 3 remaining teams SCSU is the most likely to be able to compete over the long run. Plus MSU has a good rivalry with UNO, which is why they would be good in a new conference. I don't want to see the WCHA at 12 teams, I hate that we only played Tech, UMTC, Denver, and UMD one series this year. I wouldn't want to see that even more often. By signing long term contracts with the CHA teams, the integrity of their league and teams would be preserved. What would you do? Would you want to see BSU in the WCHA?
  10. I suspect that players will continue to step up. In Kozek's case I think he is acting more as a checking line player, which he is doing well. At some point the flashes we have seen will translate to results on the scoreboard. I also think that one of two things will happen with Forney (who does have raw talent). He is either going to go through one of the most brutal off season regiments in UND history and come back a great player OR he will fade into oblivion as a bust.
  11. Kelly Zajac with a goal, but look carefully at the scoring line for Wade MacLeod (Northeastern). That is awesome, but apparently only good enough for 3rd star... Friday: http://www.bchl.bc.ca/leagues/hockey_boxSc...p;gameID=330622 Notice Nash with 0 points... But Oh on Saturday, Nash 3G, 2A, #1 Star. 12. My comment was based on the amount of analysis put forth on the goofy scenario... Is that quote USCHO speculation or an actual release? I thought bonuses were still speculation. This bonus is a really bad deal for WCHA teams, because we very rarely schedule WCHA opponents for non WCHA games. Because you don't know who will be top 15 at the end of the season, some of this will be luck, however if you are a WCHA team, you can rest assured that you will not be playing half of these teams in a non-conference game. If you are a non-WCHA team this is great, there may only be 1 or 2 teams in your conference that reduce your chances. Right now there happen to be only 4 but MSU, Tech, CC and Wisco, have been there. 1. Minnesota 0.5905(1) 24-7-3 34 0.7500 0.5409 0.5360 0 0.5905(1) 2. 13. Really , tell me more of your extensive knowledge... This may or may not be true. The NCAA doesn't release the formula and in previous years, it has been speculated that home of neutral site wins may or may not help, I really don't know one way or the other.
  14. You know what would really help? Maine has to forfeit their 2 games for using ineligible players. That would flip many comparisons and give use a bonus...
  15. Really, I'm sure all of the top local players are "on the radar" just because the coaches will get alot of chances to see them. Not sure if that will translate to a scholarship or not, but there is certainly the opportunity there.
  16. 4th liner Drew?
  17. Good question, I mistakenly took him AND Erstad off, fixed...
  18. You rule! I brought the HC Jersey to work for a big Gophers fan. He just said that he didn't want to talk about it.

  19. Shattuck will be pummeling the Bismarck Bobcats in Bismarck this Saturday and Sunday. I was planning on attending, but the weather (and work) will keep me in MN. If you're in town, you can go let them know what state they are playing in and show some love for Ben Blood.
  20. Updated (removed complete losers that decided to throw their life away at some lesser institution ): Even with the loss of Bishop, UND is full for 2007, assuming everyone that can come, does. Some players (Bruneteau) may wait a year if we landed another elite recruit. Here are a few players the Sioux are / may be interested in. UND also has the tendency to get a player no one expects like Jonathon Toews. 2007 (or 2008): Forwards: Riley Nash - Salmon Arm BCHL Matt Frattin - Fort Saskatchewan Sidney Crosby Defense: Not Likely Goalie: Not Likely 2008: Forwards: David Toews - Shattuck-St. Mary's Joe Colborne - Camrose AJHL Cam Lamoreux - Drumheller AJHL August Aiken - Salmon Arm BCHL Stephan Novotny - Shattuck-St. Mary's Kelly Zajac - Salmon Arm BCHL Derek Lee - Salmon Arm BCHL Justin Johnson - Eau Claire N. HS Defense: Brett Kostolansky - Shattuck-St. Mary's Goalie: Not Likely 2009 Forwards: See 2008 List Defense: Aaron Ness - Roseau Ben Hughes - Shattuck-St. Mary's Ben Montgomery - Shattuck-St. Mary's
  21. I got all excited to see that Smaby got called up, then I realized it was just a typo.
  22. Also posted elsewhere, but Trupp with another good performance and the 3rd star vs. Salmon Arm http://www.bchl.bc.ca/leagues/hockey_boxSc...p;gameID=330620
  23. Back to this thread's topic. A very interesting matchup in the BCHL last night for Sioux fans http://www.bchl.bc.ca/leagues/hockey_boxSc...p;gameID=330620 Trupp with 1G/1A and the 3rd star vs. Nash with Salmon Arms lone goal.
