UNI still being ranked is a complete joke, but it'll work itself out. They're getting in at 6-5, but sitting currently at 2-4, they'll have to finish 4-1 to get to that record. They still play NDSU, SDSU and Western Illinois. They do have a brutal schedule. UND is #21 in the Sagarin rankings. http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htm

Ridiculous. Is there a giant uproar every year, or are people so tired of complaining they've given up? I know last year w/ MVC all being on the same side there was a lot of push back. You'd think that nobody would be ok with this. What a joke. Regardless, just keep winning and see what happens. I know there's a lot of time left in the season and a lot of things will change, but is the general consensus that we'd like to see South Dakota State win out and get a seed?

I've never paid attention to where teams have been ranked with their first round matchups. Do they attempt at all to match teams up based on the teams actual rankings? I know they try to go regional, but let's say UND and SDSU are ranked 9th and 11th. Would they still match them up first round, even though it would make no sense to do so based on their rankings?

Like a few people have said before, it's much easier to fall, than it is to rise in the rankings. Outside of true statement wins (i.e. beating another Top 25 team), I doubt you see anybody jump over a team that also won. UND is at #22 in the STATS poll (using that one, because that's what everyone seems to use on tv broadcasts). #17 Albany, #20 Harvard and #21 UNI all lost. I bet they'll either be 19 come Monday. Got to keep stacking wins!

One major concern I have right now is with the kicking game. Wasn't Taubs able to kick it into the end zone as a freshman? It didn't cost us today, but SUU started with great field position more times than not.

Do you really not understand the point?

This topic is kind of going off the rails. My opinion on wanting the sport cut is strictly based on the financial situation the athletic department is currently in and the fact that a couple sports need to go. It wouldn't be cut the sport, just to cut it. This will probably make me look like the bad guy, but there are only three UND sports I care about. Men's Hockey, Basketball, Football. Outside of those three, whichever other sport has the highest price tag, I'd vote to cut (again, since UND will be cutting sports).

Just like pretty much everyone else, I'll pass.

Just look at the attendance, that's pretty much all you need to know. If it was entertaining, people would show up.

Can't think of a women's sport that's less enjoyable to watch.

You are the worst, imo

No seniors and Boeser being the only definite early departure. I count 3 forwards that have to almost be locked in coming next year in Kawaguchi, Mismash and Adams. Besides that Mattson and Keane seem like they'd be likely too.

Here's the thing I'm struggling to figure out about everyone talking about UND's weak conference schedule. Wouldn't the same apply to EWU and Montana then as well? I know they play each other, but based on their logic that UND doesn't play anybody, wouldn't both those schools only play 1 good conference opponent? I would say that's a pretty weak conference schedule as well.

Correct, it'd be key for both SDSU and UNI to miss the playoffs. That's why this weekend is interesting. I'd never cheer for NDSU, but it might be better for UND if NDSU beat the Jacks. Losing to NDSU won't drop them a lot, but it will give them 3 loses, which will in turn kind of put them on the bubble as far as one more loss (have a pretty tough schedule), would really hurt. That being said, if either / both go 7-4 they will be in no question. Getting SDSU to 5 losses is pretty tough to do, could see UNI going 6-5.

#22 in the Stats rankings. I actually don't have a big problem with UNI being at #21. I mean they dropped 10 places from last weeks, which is huge.

One thing I'll never understand is pulling a redshirt and not playing the person, or barely playing the person. If it's completely out of necessity, then I'd understand. The Cloyd situation though doesn't make any sense.

I agree with this post. 8-3 might not be good enough depending on which game they lose. UND's 0-2 start really put themselves in a hole that they are just starting to dig themselves out of. Everyone is on the same page that every game here on out is basically like a playoff game. There are no teams left on their schedule that will be a real big shot in the arm to the pollsters like after the Cal Poly win. If they continue to win, I'd expect maybe gaining 1 to 3 spots a week, depending on what else happens. A loss however and when they lose could really be devastating. Each game is obviously important for one reason or another. They absolutely need to win the next 3. SUU - UND is just beginning to get some traction again. A lose and they most likely fall out of the Top 25 and will have a mountain to climb the rest of the year @ISU - Bottom team in the Big Sky Weber - Middle of the road team at home After the next 3 weeks the playoff picture should be a little more clearer. They need the next 3.

Embarrassing article, I bet Erik Jonnason II is really patting himself on the back for being such a hero. I'll never be able to wrap my head around how a "Sioux Sucks !@#$" chant or the Sioux-Per-Drunk Springfest tshirts can in anyones mind be racist. Does Erik think that a single student when saying that chant is referring to actual Native Americans? Or when the students made those t-shirts it was not a play on words with the old nickname / what happens at Springfest but they were somehow making fun of the alcohol problems that is taking place on reservations. Give me break.

The difference was Kelley always seemed to go "over the top" when condemning. Making sure everyone knew that they could seek counseling after the Springfest / Sioux-Per-Drunk t-shirt situation. Forcing Gamma Phi to do sensitivity training over the banner deal (still not sure how that was offensive). Not a first amendment rights issue, but he handled the Lamda Chi situation so poorly. Basically convicting those students in the court of public opinion. He never apologized for that after it was proven the student made it up.

In a letter to the campus community Wednesday, Kennedy condemned the two photos, but said a zero-tolerance policy is not possible for UND's campus. "While I appreciate the desire for such a policy, it is unachievable under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution," Kennedy wrote. "The challenge we all face is to find the balance between wanting to eliminate expressions of racism and bigotry and supporting the free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment. If we value freedom of speech, we must acknowledge that some may find the expressions of others unwelcome, painful, or even, offensive. We can, however, speak out and condemn such expressions, and we can work to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment." Kennedy couldn't have handled this any better. Refreshing to see after how big of disaster Kelley was in situations like this. Well done.

If you look at UND's schedule in all reality they can't lose the following games and still have a realistic shot at the playoffs, even if they win every other game. @ Sac State @ Idaho State Weber State I think losing any of those 3 games would torpedo them so far in the rankings they couldn't dig themselves out. That's why, especially on the road this game makes me nervous. It's exciting though, every game has huge implications! Just keep winning!

You are right, read your post wrong.

Missing the 3 straight losses to Idaho State, Weber State and Montana last year.
