Jost stays and UND will be a NCAA tournament team next year. He doesn't stay...................well.
The last month of the year, UND was finally clicking and proved without a doubt they were a Top 10 team in the nation. I think they could be truly dominant depending on who stays. If they only lose Ausmus, Poolman, Boeser and Rinks, I think they are one of the favorites going into next year. Losing only one other (even if Jost), I still think they are a Top 10 team, lose another and things get a little dicey. I think next year you could potentially see depth at forward that we haven't seen since 2011.

At this time, available tickets to the NCAA West Regional are sold out. Should tickets currently being held for various groups per NCAA bid specifications become available, those tickets will go on sale to the general public in person only at the Scheels Arena Box office on Thursday, March 23 at 9 a.m.
UND Athletics will make an official announcement the afternoon of Wednesday, March 25 on UNDsports.com and official social media outlets if tickets become available.
They are talking about buying tickets through the other colleges. It worked last time.
I think it's as easy as giving them a call.

BC loss has to help though...lets go BU?
Yep. Right now, it's anyone but BC in Hockey East and anybody but Wisconsin in the Big 10. The best situation would be Minnesota winning the Big Tourney.

Great fight by the team tonight. Congrats to the team and coaches. Best season of UND basketball ever imo. Great careers by Hooker and Baldwin. Great coaching this year as well.
I hope this serves as a lesson to alums administration and everyone that MENS BASKETBALL IS UND's BIGGEST OPPORTUNITY FOR EXPOSURE. So much attention on this tourney. No reason UND shouldn't invest more in basketball and strive to be a mid major program that makes the tourney 3-5 times every 10 years. Maybe some years get a 12-13 seed a win a few games. Alls it takes for mid majors to take off is go on a run one year and ride that momentum. Gonzaga, VCU, UNI, Butler, Florida Gulf, St Mary's are all examples.
Make the commitment to basketball. Huge ROI potential.
Couldn't agree more.

Very proud of this team, they never quit and played very well offensively. If both teams hit their average in free throws they would have covered, easily. Arizona had to have had one of the best nights in NCAA history from the stripe, no way they could duplicate that again. Even though they lost by 18, I thought it was a very good showing, when you consider the size and skill Arizona had.

Cheerleaders are here (talked to a few of them last night) but the band is not. I assume that is because of spring break and the $ needed to get them here. I don't know if I like it but we have hired a local high school band that is to be really good to "make some noise" for us.
Really glad the cheerleaders made it, not surprised about the band. Interesting move to hire a local high school band. That's a pretty cool thing for them.

So I assume you all would say the usndtp should be shut down as well.
Who pays for it? Does USA hockey? (Btw the answer is no).
If the NHL feels it should, then shut it down, since, you know, they are the ones that pay for it.

Agree completely, it's only tangents like this where he's a brutal follow. When he sticks to college hockey, he's great.

True. It came in response to schloss' public stance on many subjects. I actually don't think I was being overly political now that I look back at my posts. I was just laughing at schloss' one sided stance on some topics. I could care less about each topic.
This has also really rubbed me the wrong way for the past couple years. He's not so much a reporter on a lot of issues, but more an advocate for only one side. It gets really, really annoying.

Sponsorship is what drives the USOC and, presumably, the various individual sports' operations. Sell more sponsorships, have more money. If sponsors aren't willing to fund full cost of participation (i.e., off-year training, living, travel, etc.), then what are you going to do?
Is the allegation here that USA Hockey is mismanaging its money? If so, put all the cards out there. Otherwise, you can only get so far by squeezing them.
Very few Olympic athletes are living the high life. Many of them are staked by hometown benefactors.
No, it's simply that the USA Women's hockey team believes they should get more money

By telling the women to, in effect, "put up and shut up", you are discouraging them from pursuing a spot on international teams (Olympic and IIHF). That will eventually translate into disappointing results on the international stage. And the first people to b!tch about it will be the same people who are telling the women to "put up and shut up".
The Olympics are supposed to be amateur, not professional. We should encourage the amateur aspect, not discourage it by telling our prospective athletes to "put up and shut up". For the record, I do not like having professional athletes in the Olympics, whether it be hockey, basketball or anything else. Just make all Olympic sports amateur only and that should level the playing field across the board.
I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure I speak for majority. You know the question, would you rather have your local WNBA team win a championship or find $20? If they win it all or finish 10th, it doesn't matter to the vast majority of people.

Not all heroes wear capes, some write for the GF Herald. What ends up bothering me about this is instead of taking a step back and looking at this subjectively, you have the likes of Schlossman, that need to be at the front line, fighting for "justice". Things that should matter, like lets say interest for a sport, are thrown out he window, because why should that matter?

By all means, try to negotiate better wages and if you think boycotting will work, then I don't hate that move either. They are just trying to better their situation.
The harsh reality is, that even though you'll likely find support from columnists trying to pat themselves on the back, at the end of the day, nobody cares if they boycott or not. USA hockey is thinking it, but would never say it, because of the fake outrage backlash they'd get, but it's true. Nobody outside of the players and their parents care.

Seriously? Chill out man. So he missed an opportunity to talk about UND on a Minneapolis radio station. Big freakin deal. I doubt missing a 10 min interview on a "sports radio show" (cough) is going to drastically hurt your recruiting opportunity in the Twin Cities.
It's unprofessional and rude. You're right, this won't have some drastic effect on recruiting, but it doesn't shine a good light on Coach Jones at all. It's the little things that matter sometimes, what's frustrating, is all it would take is a 10 second phone call to explain the situation. No problem. If it wasn't Jones, how he doesn't have the SID or someone with him handling this is completely inexcusable.

Really bad look, no reason to not have someone fill in, or at the very least, give KFAN a heads up that it will no longer work. I mean come on, what are they doing?

Wouldn't Omaha then have a chance at an auto bid as they cant get in with an at large bid. They have to win the the tournament to get in right? That wouldn't be good for us if we lose this coming weekend and end up on the bubble. Duluth, Denver and western are all locks for the ncaa.
Definitely cheering for Western, (1) Lock for the tournament and great PWR (2) Although big difference in PWR, I don't think Western is that much more talented. In fact, I like how we match up better with Western.
Other games today: Lowell & Clarkson. Besides if they play UND, I want to Top 8 who are locks for the tournament to keep winning. It does nobody any good to have UNH running around with a chance to take the auto bid.

I can see why the Iowa coach was pissed at the end of the UND game. I get playing hard until the end of the game, but full court pressing down by 20 with a couple minutes left and the other teams backups in? Really annoying.

Updated today
They have us (175 RPI) in a play in game vs New Orleans (178 RPI)....winner to play Kansas.
SDSU #16 vs Gonzaga.
Mt. St. Mary's (160 RPI) vs North Carolina Central (218 RPI) the other #16 play in.
Updated currently per ESPN.
SDSU - 156 RPI
Jacksonville St. (15 seed) - 152 RPI
Mt. St. Mary's, SDSU, Jax St have all won their tournaments, so have no more games to play. Would it be possible for UND to climb 20 spots with 3 wins (except for East Washington all teams significantly below them in the RPI)? As it sits right now, the real disappointing thing was, I think UND was around 155 before the loss to Sac State, which had them tumble like 20 / 25 spots in the RPI.

UND also wore blacks in home game against Maine every player had Walsh on the back for their name for the Maine coach battling cancer. Jerseys were auctioned off afterwards with the money going to Walsh.

There are three conference championship games tonight that have a huge impact on potential NCAA seeding for the Big Sky winner. Right now, without any upsets in the conference tournaments, UND (if they win) would be in the play-in game.
Tonight
Northeast: Mt. St. Mary's (164) vs St. Francis (256) on ESPN 2 @ 6pm
Summit: SDSU (168) vs Omaha (127) on ESPN 2 @ 8pm
Horizon: Milwaukee (255) vs N. Kentucky (91) on ESPN @ 6pm
Teams in bold either have worse RPI's than UND or would if UND won three in a row to win the conference championship. Let's hope a couple can pull off the upsets tonight.
Edit: Added current RPI's according to ESPN

I think I saw a player checked a ref this year college or pro, I can't remember. But the player was ejected and it looked like he did it on purpose.
Dennis Wideman? That was really bad, got 20 games.

That one hurts, really, really disappointing. I'd put this in the same boat as LJ leaving last year, would have been a key part of next years team. Now, I couldn't be more pessimistic about everyone else. I'll never understand a guy leaving early that will never play in the NHL.
