I think WBB and VB should be included in the "core" sports. Five core sports and eleven other sports to meet NCAA and Summit League requirements.
Expenses, Expenses, Expenses should be how Kennedy makes cuts for everything not in the 5 "core sports".
It doesn't matter how the other sports are performing, because nobody really cares. If S&D won the WAC, or finished 8th, it's all the same in the minds of the vast majority. That goes for every other sport not in the core 5. The cheaper sports stay, the more expensive sports get cut.

Sorry, that is not how a Division I institution should work.
Cut us down to 16 sports (that means no more women's hockey) and strengthen our core programs.
Anything less is a joke.
This.
Get ready for an opinion that will get ripped, but I guarantee the vast majority of people that are UND fans would agree with. There are only 3 sports that truly matter to UND fans, those are Men's Hockey, Men's Basketball and Football, I don't buy it, but you can add Women's Basketball and Volleyball to the list if you want to get 5. Outside of that, it doesn't matter how any of the other teams do, because people don't care.
Those 5 are the core, fill in whatever you need to get to 16 based on what's needed by the Summit / what's the cheapest. If Tennis is cheaper than Swimming & Diving, cut Swimming & Diving and keep Tennis.

Good take.
I believe you are correct on where UND is at.
Need to win 4 of 6 or 5 of 7 to punch a ticket.
This is what I'd think too, they have two losses the rest of the way (both can't be in NCHC first round of Playoffs). This would take one sweep over the next 3 weekends, which as inconsistent as this team has played, isn't exactly impossible.
What gives me hope is it's not like the NCHC is murders row this year and the teams UND will be playing the next two weeks are average college hockey teams. So is UND right now, but, they have more talent than both Miami and SCSU.

Attendance for women's hockey was 881....
....combined for their 3 game playoff series against Ohio State.
Ticket prices were $14/$10 for the weekend or $7/$5 per game.
Just curious what's with the two prices (not weekend / game), but what was the difference between $14 and $10 ticket?

I really don't even know where to start. It's very clear to me that Berry and the coaching staff as well as the "leaders" on this team deserve equal blame for this season. What we all witnessed last night, on Senior night was completely unacceptable. The team looked uninspired and uninterested, I don't understand it. I'm going to stick with talent wasn't / isn't the problem with this team, but they are missing leadership, big time. Outside of Tucker, the pieces that were there last year that returned all under performed. Starting in goal, moving to defense (Ausmus) and moving to the forward group (Boeser, Poganski, Gardner). Minnesota is a good example this year, I'm not convinced they are a more talented group, but they play as a team and that is on Berry.
As far as the rest of the year, are they statistically out of it, no, but there's nothing I've seen that gets my hopes up that they can win two in a row, much less make a run. I want to be proven wrong, but if they don't, at least this nightmare of a season will soon be over.
Side note: I wouldn't put this in the same category as the WMU Saturday night game, or the CC Saturday night game, but instead with the SCSU Friday night game and so many others. Even when they didn't play well, it wasn't like UNO was head and shoulders better. Bounces, puck luck, whatever you call it, this team had none this year. Also, 9 times out of 10 the opposing teams goalie either played better or on par with UNDs.

Denver beating SCSU might have been the only game out of about 10 that went the way UND wanted last night.

Still trying to comprehend what Peski is doing, complete garbage.

BU dominating, Notre Dame goes down and score -- 3-1 Notre Dame
UND getting no help early. Just take my list and whatever we want to happen isn't.

Besides the obvious (win for the good guys), what non-UND teams should we be pulling for tonight?
This strictly based on who's around us in the PWR and who would drop with a loss. There's more to it, so maybe we'd want BC over Umass?
Denver over SCSU
Michigan State over Penn State
Michigan over Ohio State
Minnesota over Wisonsin
RPI over Cornell
BU over Notre Dame
UMass over Providence
Merrimack over Vermont
Umass over BC ??

That Idaho court is wild, it's like watching a game from the 70s.
I mean what's going on here?

Experience has shown here that if we don't win that one weekend in April it doesn't matter how things went the previous 24 weekends.
That's my feeling as well.

What is one to take away from this? NDSU has more athletic money (and or externally) than UND (and or less expenses)?
Definitely less expenses (probably considerably) when you consider they offer less sports and would spend less on travel with the sports they offer.

With 30 games under their belt, you think this team is "better offensively" than what they have shown? How much more evidence do you need to believe that UND obviously has problems scoring goals?
There's no denying they have problems scoring goals. I just can't believe (I guess to answer your question 3 more weeks if things keep going how they have), that they can't turn things around. They have the talent to average more than 2 goals a game. Need the big guns (looking at you Boeser) to step up.

No I didn't mention the Univerity directly. Example last year I would go to Choice Fitness to workout. At the same time UND was playing a tennis match. No one was there except the Student Athletes. They would play all the matches at the sametime and an hour later it was done. The other team would leave. What a waste of money. No benifit to the university. At least with Womens hockey fan's both student and non-students go to the games.
So, should the only factor to take into account be attendance?
This is insane.

How many Grand Forks girls play on boys teams? Since the twins played on boys teams at youth, there has been a spike in GF girls playing on youth teams.
Since GF has youth girls teams, my guess on girls playing on boys teams over the age of 10U would be 0.

Folks, before we indulge deeply into play-in game vs whatever-seed discussions we should see if Jones and his squad can finish the regular season and BSC tourney without choking. Weber will be tough to beat in the BSC tourney.
Either they do or they don't, doesn't hurt to discuss what if scenarios.
I'd be much more worried about playing Eastern than I would Weber. It's basketball, either could easily beat UND in the tournament, but if I would want to avoid one team, it'd be Eastern.

Either we are a hockey town or just a Sioux Men's hockey town. They need a new coach. Do that and start winning the fan's will come.
Women's hockey is a good alternative to people that can't afford tickets to the men's game.
The whole student "athlete opportunities" does nothing for me. If no one is willing to watch them play than big deal.
Women'shockey generates more fan interest then Tennis, Golf, Softball, Soccer and Swimming and Diving. Look there before cutiing Women's Hockey.
I really, really hope you're trolling.

Kennedy coming out and giving the number ($1.3 million) and saying everything is on the table, I actually think for once that UND will make the logical, completely obvious decision and cut Women's hockey. I don't know how it's even debatable when you lay everything on the table.

Can anybody answer how the play-in teams are picked? I assumed based on their RPI compared to the rest of the 16 seeds. If you look at the ESPN bracket and the CBSSports bracket, that is not the case. UND for example is not in the play-in game and only a 16 seed in the CBSSports bracket (although has an RPI higher than teams in the play-in game). In the ESPN bracket, same thing, just different teams.

The play in game is a joke. I wish they would have kept the tournament at 64. A team can win a conference tournament and celebrate they are going to the dance only to possibly lose in a playin game, and watch March Madness from home. Play in games should be for non conference winners only. Let the cry babies at the P5 schools play in the playin games. They are the ones who want more teams in the tournament.
Couldn't agree more.

The Big Sky tournament winner gets a play-in game?
This is assuming that the team that wins the regular season also wins the conference tournament. Right now UND would be playing in the play-in game with their RPI, but if they win the Big Sky tournament and there's upsets in some of the other mid-major conferences, that can change.

Next years Freshman class should be good at the forward spot, Mismash (potential late 1st Rounder), Kawaguchi (2nd BCHL) and Adams (6th USHL) are a nice trio of forwards.
