hate to break it to you but his stock is at a all time high and has been, chicago holds his rights unless he stays all 4 years and then doesnt sign i believe after a certain date. this has been discussed i think here, i hope to god he wouldnt do that and be like that little bich eli manning in a way. and i dont think it would be smart to stay and risk injury either, they are all insured but that doesnt equal it out when all said and done if injured. i think any team would want him and if it were done over he may have been the top pick but thats for another argument because staal had a pretty good rookie season in pittsburgh. i felt lucky to have him come back for year 2, and if for some miracle reason he stayed to win a NCAA title to go with his closet full of golds he could go down as a friken icon which he is already becoming in canada. TOEWS = GOLD MEDALS

  12. uh yeah, ya think sounds like a carbon copy Q. We got the low-down on you from Hextall. What can you tell us about him? EVAN TRUPP: He's an extremely hard-working player. He's a pretty gritty player. He's only 5-10, but he's a pretty tough kid. He's hated throughout the league. He runs his mouth a lot. It's pretty funny. Lots of people hate him for it, but he's a great team player. He's a great guy to be around.

Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla. - Cambridge Hawks Minor) C.J. Motte (St. Clair, Mich. - Honeybaked U16) It should be noted that Mike Fink, Seth Helgeson, and David Warsofsky are 1990 birthdates that are trying out for a spot on the U18 team next season. This is going to be a very tough team to pick, as the 1991 class looks like a very deep year for USA Hockey. The competition for spots on the blueline should be especially intense. I think it is interesting that there aren't a ton of Minnesota kids on the list, and I'd guess that not that many will make the team. Zach Budish would probably be considered a lock, but I think he'll be returning to Edina HS next year. Nate Schmidt is probably also another lock, but again, there are way more quality defenseman than spots available. Meanwhile, it definitely looks like a great year for kids playing in Michigan and California. It will definitely be interesting to see which direction USA Hockey chooses to go in. I think it has the potential to be a very exciting group of kids.

  19. parise article http://live82.ihwc.net/english/article/spo...&artId=2661 "People say Zach plays a lot like Paul Kariya," said former North Dakota coach Dean Blais. "But I think he's more like Peter Forsberg. Kariya and Forsberg are both great offensively, but Zach is more like Forsberg--first on the forecheck and he finishes every check." Despite piling up the accolades in his first year of college hockey, Parise was only taken 17th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Some thought he might go higher, but teams passed, thinking that the 5-foot-11-inch Parise could be too small to deal with the more physical NHL. When it was time for the New Jersey Devils to pick, General Manager Lou Lamoriello said his choice was easy: "I did not think, after seeing Zach Parise play when he was a freshman at North Dakota and knowing where we were drafting, that we would have the opportunity to take him."

  25. hf on finley, #13 prospect for washington http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/9643 13. Joe Finley, D Acquired: 1st round, 27th overall, 2005 Weighing in at 6'7 240 lbs, and tough as nails, makes Finley an immediately noticeable young defensive prospect on the horizon. Just beginning his NCAA career with the University of North Dakota, Finley's work ethic and improvement since being drafted in 2005 gives this youngster a high potential upside. Finley is not going to be a defenseman who puts up points. With one goal and six assists in 38 games, Finley is there to control the game defensively. His incredible size, mixed with a certain aggressiveness, gives him the ability to take control of a game from a defensive standpoint. Whether it is blocking shots or applying a momentum-changing hit, Finley has all the tools to be a major factor in any contest. Also an incredibly hard worker, Finley has worked hard on improving his skating, and other offensive skills. If he can become a consistent defender at the NCAA level, there is no telling how far he can go given his determination and willingness to improve all aspects of his game.
