I know the way UND has played the last 6, there's probably no room to talk, but besides CC, I'd want SCSU. Both those teams are not good, at all.
Agreed. Even with our stellar last 40 minutes on Friday night at CC, they put up a bigger fight that weekend than we've seen out of SCSU all year.
Motzko brings tough teams into the postseason though. Since the last year of the WCHA they've pushed into at least the regional and that year they reached the Frozen Four.

We've quieted the Lawson Lunatics before and we can do it again. I'm calling a big siouxweeeep this weekend. The boys know the task at hand and if the timing of the season hasn't been at the front of their heads before, it will be now.

CC deserves better than the fate they've received in the last handful of years. They are a quality program with a strong hockey heritage - I miss them among the top half of the WCHA/NCHC.
Agreed. Record doesn't reflect their talent whatsoever.

The only Frozen Faceoff I've attended was back in 2015, and I, too, was very, very turned off by the venue. It also wasn't fun seeing our team get bounced twice, but that's not why I was there. It was about the support. That being said, we had fans everywhere as usual and it was one of the better experiences I've had as a [young] UND fan. Especially at the Pourhouse, woof.
I think another thing that needs to be considered here are the teams. The conference right now is not out of reach for us, still very tight and we have the playoffs to get through, but there's a shot we could be seeing the same teams at the FF as last year. If not all the same, most of them. If the season were to end now, we'd have two of the relatively local teams in the conference in attendance. If Bob and the Huskies turn things around for the remainder of the season, AND we were to do some damage in KZoo next weekend, that'd very likely have all 4 2016 teams right back, and 3 teams in driving distance. All three have a pretty large presence in the cities, and even with a less than optimal facility, simply having our teams in will cause some draw.
Sure, our boys might not be having the best season around by North Dakota standards, but just as we saw in 2014 we can hit a spark and turn something nerve-wracking into a force to be reckoned with. 6 games and a month until post season is a lot of time to make a good run yet. Let's not get so down on our men. They're the reason we're on this board.

Fire Ideski?

Not sure if you did it on purpose, but if it WAS serious, you probably shouldn't be asking that question when you can't get Idalski's name right.

Nope, I'm sure Bubs has it covered after the 10 minute misconduct penalty he took on Saturday.
Icing on top of the cake as far as I'm concerned, it's happened a few times this year and it's embarrassing. Remains to be seen if his act can get cleaned up.

Anybody else bothered by Rhett's foolish play?

Jost still out. Gage and JJ back. Rinks gets the start.
Gersich Hoff Boeser
JJ Gardner Pogo
Yon Bowen Gornall
Wilkie Simo Olson
Poolmans
Ausmus Shaw
Wolanin Peski
Game on.

3-2 UND, Gersich Pogo and Wilkie in no particular order. Think we're gonna see Tyson back tonight. I posted my prediction of a sweep on the weekly thread, saying I'm optimistic about a sweep for the boys this weekend. Don't mean to derail that, but I'm personally still feeling quite uneasy about our tendy situation. I'm glad to see a tighter D-corps and feel like we got a solid work week in preparing for this series, but we need a brick wall this weekend. Badly.
-
Feeling very optimistic about the weekend. Bring out the brooms, prepare for a salute, and let's hope to hear some keys ringing tomorrow night so the busses can start and hold an upset Husky squad on their trip back.

43-18 shots and not one can get in?
-
We're playing quite well tonight, sloppy at times but pucks aren't getting through Leclerc. He's unstoppable. Bound to have one or two get through if we give a boost to the tenacity we've had in the first 40.

They could pay him.
I was going to add that at first too, B1G has the money but that taps right into the personal note that I had. He doesn't need it to be a quality coach and he's proven that year over year at UMD.

A Michigan State fan on USCHO mentioned Michigan State should go after Sandelin.
I don't see him leaving Duluth.
He has no reason to leave. Great things going where he is, very well established in many different hockey communities and on a personal note, he's a good guy that knows where he fits best.

Brock gets off his game when he is complaining to the refs. Hennessy called it on the radio coverage last night. Took a bad penalty and had no basis to argue the call. I have a feeling Brock will have a better game tonight. What an effort by Gornall last night. This year's version of Coltyn Sanderson?
Absolutely. Incredible work ethic, shows up with a great attitude and doesn't get discouraged by little playing time. I personally think if Gornall stays all four years (don't see why he wouldn't) he might crack the line-up more than Coltyn did, especially if he plays with the flame that he showed last night on a more consistent basis. I said it on the UND/CC week thread that we really needed to harbor the next man up mentality this weekend, especially in the midst of key absences in our line-up, and Mike is doing that. I like it.

First time using NCHC.tv - is it usually a few minutes behind actual game time or just depending on the night/stream?

Per Schloss.........Jost is out this coming weekend. JJ is available. Ausmus is day-to-day................but aren't we all.
Don't have a good feeling about this weekend without Jost. Could be Pairwise death weekend.
Hope and pray we embrace the 'next man up' mentality a little bit extra this weekend.

Well, FWIW, I did in fact post something very similar on GPL last night. Having said that, this is the "2016-17 college hockey (non-UND hockey)" thread, so...
Lol, keep clinging to that belief. If that's what makes you feel better about your presence or existence.

I agree with all of this expect Gage is better than 3 dmen even with his poor play. Simo has been a passenger now for weeks.
11 minutes ago, cberkas said:With the on ice leadership being nonexistent with the current captains, maybe it's time to strip them of their letters. Gage wasn't the Captain last year even though he wore the "C" Stecher and Cags were the real Captains last year. Right now two guys with letters should be in the stands, Gage and Simo.
What are you both going off? Have you any idea the character and amount of class that Simo has? Leadership happens off the ice. It's been said on this thread before. They clearly don't generate numbers like our other boys but I know they both attain the ability to strike change. If anything, Gage needs to step up. I don't see stripping a letter as being anything constructive, especially in late January.

Actually, Evers is still listed under D-men still on Schlossblog. Don't know how I looked over that.

Just looked at some of the notes for working the concert, and, even though the stage is at the south end, it's listed as a full house 360 degree show, so may not be the backstage look in sec 106, etc
This is what I was hoping for, and the main motivation behind the original post. My cousin saw him down in Sioux Falls last night at the Sanford and she said that's how it was set up, and I've heard it's been done at the Ralph before. Fantastic news. Thank you!

Hi all-
I apologize to deviate from the norm, but I'm wondering if anyone's ever sat in 106 for a concert for the Ralph. Never been to a show at the REA and before I make the plunge on buying tickets it'd be nice to have some perspective, if it's available.
Thanks in advance, and as always, go Sioux!

You make a good point, but Duluth is a very, very good team. Mature, deep and consistent, and in all but one of their losses it's been by a margin of one goal. They're a better team. Things can happen in the postseason with everything on the line but I'd be very worried if we matched up with them in the regional.
