Never said that UND was "was going to be relegated" ...
Im just stating that the landscape of college hockey has changed, dramatically, and its not a temporary shift at all.
Many, if not most, fans do not realize this yet, they dont understand the impact
I assure you coaches, administrators, and "advisors" do.
I'm also saying its foolish to compare this Michigan team to the BU 1andDone team
The new recruiting restrictions also favor blue bloods and big names. Nobody is reaching out to schools like Lake Superior State on their own, and prior to a certain age that's the only way to start a conversation with a recruit. Look at what schools had freshly available commitments announced on Aug 1st and soon after.

Look for Cal Thomas (MG) to potentially flip here
Here's to hoping the Argus leader is wrong.

Kinda like the Bruins fans who’d filed out of that huge come from behind victory over the Maple Leafs some years ago in the NHL playoffs. I believe it was a deciding game 7 too if I’m not mistaken.
Frattin biffed on a breakaway to ice it. He scores there and the Leafs move on.

Watching UMass Mankato, Morrow is noticeably getting out-worked. Smooth skater but 24 year olds push back harder than 17 year olds.

A few years back my wife and I were a billet for a Fargo Force player. He told us about his recruiting process and each college he visited. When he checked out Michigan the first thing they did was take him to the Big House. He told his dad immediately he was no longer interested in them and wanted to leave. Nothing like letting a hockey recruit know what they will be second, third, or fourth fiddle to.
It seems to be a rite of passage for their blue chip freshmen to be photographed at the big house. Always struck me as odd.

Lindenwood hasn't officially said they will be a NCAA D1 team next season, but the Denver PxP guy said it multiple times during the game that Lindenwood will be playing next season as a NCAA D1 team.
Thoughts of Lindenwood vs Denver:
Zombo looks to want his team be fast and Lindenwood showed their speed at times during the game
Depth is what did Lindenwood in, I honestly thought this would have been a more lopsided game then it really was
If Lindenwood make the jump next season I could see them having faster success then Penn State and Arizona State had.
For the D1 teams that don't want to play exhibition games against Canadian teams should give these ACHA D1 teams a game to see how good they are.
We should play Minot State (instead of Manitoba) every few years.

Couldn't watch it live and now the NCHC app won't let me pull it up. Typical gong show from whoever they outsource the app to.

Wouldn't be UND without a draft pick scratched.

Here is wishing Peter Thome success vs. St Cloud St.
Hoping to find a stream of that UMass vs Mankato game. Should be a good one.

Not sure on the specifics, but I believe all hockey east games will be free on that website.

Yeah, that is very interesting, speculation may be that "fitness" refers to vaccination rather than physicality??
Either way, as you said........ yikes.
That was my first thought, but they were pretty public with their decision on Ronaldo, so it's hard to imagine different circumstances for Cam.

Yikes.

The question is, how long was Red a hindrance on recruiting? Mel is clearly much better.

...now "staying sober enough" to watch both games... might be a different story....
Especially with using actively drinking as an excuse to not wear a mask (an approach which I wholeheartedly endorse).

Exactly, and I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression because GF is saying it. Saying it about Clark, saying it about Shaugabay ... well, that one seems to be accurate since we didn't offer.
My "Edina kids are divas" post could be interpreted that way, if that's what one is trying to hear. It's disappointing to miss on him no doubt, but plenty of fish in the sea. Reading his commitment article on Rink Live we didn't really have much of a chance.

Anyone know about Brasen Boser? 17 year old from Minot playing for Wenatchee. Looks like he pulled a Weatherby and used a family member's address in WA to get an in-state spot; their roster says he's from WA but EP lists him as Minot, and he played there recently.

Connor Gaader..
I hear ya... but we recruited him as a last minute walk-on out of Juniors, and I'd wager he developed his hard nose game in the NAHL (i.e. away from home). He wasn't a blue chip at EHS. Not a knock on him at all; he scored some big goals for us and embodied our style of hockey.

In theory a pipeline from Edina would be nice to have; multiple kids from every team play D1. But truthfully, would Edina divas fit in with Sioux hockey? I say this as someone from a similar socio-economic status high school in the cities. Rich kids don't toughen up until they leave home.

I hope you weren’t limping me in that bucket. I was more pointing out the changes in recruiting landscape
No, I think our posts were done simultaneously.
A meaningful amount of our recruits don't make it to campus and some of those who make it here originally committed elsewhere. The game is the game.

This thread melts down every time a recruit chooses a school other than ours. Meanwhile we pick up studs like Pinto, JBD and Sanderson before anyone has even heard of them. Clark stings for the same reason as Shaugabay in that both had family ties to UND, but then again, Gersich was related to the Brotens.

I attended the CC Ed Robson Arena open house tonight. I have some mixed feelings about it. First off, the good…
1. Nice, open concourse on-campus facility that’s walking distance for students so the atmosphere should be a lot better than at World Arena which was a 20 minute car ride from campus. Plus, it’s within a 5 minute drive from downtown Colorado Springs which has a lot of good breweries, restaurants, etc.
2. A building that’s all CC’s. No longer a tenant of someone else’s building so you actually feel like you’re in CC’s barn. Over the years, it felt as if World Arena’s primary tenant-CC-was a second class citizen and taken for granted.
3. About 3,400 seats which is more appropriate for CC given their size. The atmosphere during games should be electric (assuming CC’s competitive). I would imagine the sight lines for television as well as the acoustics will be much better and more up to date than the terrible camera angles and sound at WA was.
The negatives…
1. The seating is tight and very cramped. Contrary to what the CC brass kept telling us before the new arena was built, there is actually much less leg room than there was at WA. If you are six feet tall or over, my condolences-you’re not going to enjoy sitting for an hour and a half in those seats.
2. Much less opportunity for UND fans to attend games as there won’t be nearly as many visiting fan seats available. This, of course, is a positive if you’re a CC fan but I know there’s a lot of people out in Colorado with UND ties that like to attend games against CC and DU and there just won’t be as much opportunity to get tickets for the CC series going forward.
3. Little to no acknowledgment to CC’s past and history like you get at the Ralph out in the concourses. There’s a tiny little mural dedicated to our two Hobey Baker winners, Marty Sertich and Peter Sejna, along with something for Peggy Fleming, that’s it. I would’ve thought there’d be old pictures of CC legends, achievements, Pikes Peak trophies, Gold Pan trophies, etc. Literally nothing of the sort in the arena which is surprising.
4. The goal horn. If you plan to attend games, bring ear defenders. They blew the horn tonight and if its any indication of things to come, you’re going to go deaf during games (again, that’s assuming we can actually put the puck in the back of the net this year).
There is some sort of standing room section, right? Good to know about the cramped seats.
I swear there was talk about using World Arena when DU and UND came to town but it must have faded out. Season ticket holders could pay for them by putting those two games on the secondary market.

Any hypotheses as to which program and/or which player?
Cruikshank and Middendorf are listed on their rosters. Can't think of any others off hand.
EDIT: everyone listed on Brad's portal list for Big 10 schools shows on their team's roster, so either he removed the player, miss them entirely (unlikely if it was a quality player) or they haven't been removed from their former team's website yet. Or Myers is just plain wrong.
2nd EDIT: He said it was a player in a league they don't cover, so not NCHC or Big 10, and that he wrote up about the player in June. The latter could mean it's a MN native or WCHA/CCHA player.

All the beat writers together. Jess Myers mentions that an unnamed Big Ten program had a prized transfer coming who was left off the roster after the team required the vaccine.
Brad thinks Denver is the number #1 team in the country. I'll have a hit of whatever he's smoking...
