  1. Friend of a friend who grew up on Summit Ave said it's because some of the most influential families in MN live right there and have for generations. The James J. Hill house literally backs up to 35E right as the slowdown starts.
  2. Brock Nelson, Derek Forbort and JBD on initial rosters.
  3. Blue chips out of GTMA that go the college route never go west of Ann Arbor. Can't think of any at WI or MN either.
  4. Recruiting against a school that is circling the drain shouldn't be tough.
  5. Thanks. Possibly a nephew, or just a coincidence when we're so used to top players having family pedigree.
  6. Is Carter Casey of Grand Rapids Jon's son? The latter is from GR as well.
  7. Jost gets a league minimum deal with Carolina, at least it's one way. Never would have guessed Cole Smith would be making more than Jost.
  8. Players like Swanson and Livanavage make champions out of college teams, glad to have them both for hopefully 4 years each.
  9. 3 players in (arbitrary number amount)!
  10. Emery was the 3rd Californian in the 1st round. The new state of hockey...
  11. How's NY's cap situation? That was part of the problem with the Avs rushing Jost if I'm recalling correctly.
  12. Did Toronto give up their earlier pick to Anaheim thinking he'd still be available later? If so, ouch.
  13. EJ to the Rangers, a decade ago I would have been more leery of them but enough time has passed.
  14. Glad he's not going to Montreal. One of the worst markets to be a local kid.
  15. Blackhawks!

  17. Michigan commit Kristian Epperson headed to Saginaw in the O after a lackluster U18 year with NTDP. Might get drafted Saturday, but really fell down the charts this year. By the time he ages out of MJ he might be eligible for NCAA though.

  19. https://www.therinklive.com/mens-college/big-ten/for-jeff-jackson-changes-in-college-hockey-signaled-his-time-for-a-career-change Notre Dame has the strongest brand in college sports but even that couldn't overcome his reputation as a stifling coach who doesn't prepare players for the pro game. He made a fool of himself on the way out with this interview. ND lacrosse, as similar to hockey demographically as a sport can be, just won two nattys in a row.
  20. https://puckpreps.com/five-star-landon-hafele-looking-to-command-bigger-role-with-ntdp-as-commitment-window-nears/ My guess on the 4/5 schools is us, Denver Michigan, BC/U
  21. Not a former Sioux but congrats to Kyle Okposo for winning a Cup despite Lucia's coaching stunting his development! #neverforget https://web.archive.org/web/20100310221739/http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/12692637.html
  22. I hope he entered his year end meeting offering to relinquish any scholarship/Alston/whatever that was zero sum with teammates. We've had a LOT of draft picks with better production that weren't back the next year.
