Hopefully once all commits from prior to Chyzyk coming aboard are either on campus or going elsewhere they take can advantage of this more. The new 5 in 5 may draw out MJ accepting its new place in the development pyramid now that the older and more experienced players touted as college hockey's biggest advantage won't be as prevalent. Brad and the rest of the college hockey pundits said it was only a matter of time until they came to terms with it, but who knows now.

Good catch. My bad

With him it's especially tough given his dad is an NHL exec and we have a reputation for being a good landing spot for kids with NHL family ties. The Leafs GM's son committing to DU is interesting given the Carle rumors being shot down.

Did not imagine Blake on the hottest line in the playoffs. Good for him. His swag/drip/etc. likely resonates with some blue chips. Hope to someday read about a kid from the suburbs we normally wrote off as shoo in for the Gophers saying how their favorite player is Blake and that influenced their decision to pick UND.

Graduation rate will decline, hopefully they brought that up when selling the exemption and alternative since that's supposed to be the point of it all. We will see fewer (if any) Cooper Simpsons staying loyal to their hometown through high school and more Cole Bumgarners going to juniors too early.

Bit late, but Blake was on Chiclets earlier this month

Duluth lurkers must have pointed it out to them, it's gone now -

Watching the series where they swept us in our building it was clear who the better team was. Had they not been seemingly deliberately injuring our players that year and we had our full team healthy, but that's a double hypothetical from a decade ago at that point. Once the Plantes are gone, Duluth will fade away (unless they somehow land the next Ferschweiler after Sandy retires to his cabin). -

Realistically we weren't beating Duluth the next game in 2017. But by the end of the the 5OT I wanted the game to be over. We have some demons to exorcise in Fargo next March. Crazy how that's the case, it should be a free pass to the Frozen Four. -

No, but broadcasts are better quality every year and more easily scrutinized. The last few times a goal was called back in games I was watching, I knew there would be a challenge if a goal was scored. The Fargo Screwjob will never stop stinging, but it did result in a rule change defanging challenges. -

Reviewing allows refs to err on the side of onsides and not blow an exciting play dead. Waiting for verification is the price we pay to have fewer whistles and more action. My biggest (but certainly not only) gripe with soccer is how anytime there's an exciting break they blow it dead for offsides. -

What's the NHL rule for this? Really odd to restrict timeouts. Agreed on the strategy aspect, not a fan of this change at all. -
Throwing money at some players likely did not sit well with others. Gadowsky's son had one of the sharpest drops in recent memory too.

That article mentions their childhood friend is committed to Penn State.

One more thought before bed. It's good seeing kids getting some ATO games after their juniors season ends and then going to college the next fall when a few years ago doing so would have voided their eligibility. Haven't seen much about it (either for or against), but giving them a taste of the grind that is the AHL will make them appreciate how good they have it in NCAA.

It's hard to imagine Nelson going anywhere but Warroad, but I could see the two of them doing it back to back in Warroad then GF.

My bad. Nelson too

Between Cole Smith, Blake, and Hak, who is most likely to bring the Cup to GF?
-
It's good to see someone pop back up from getting boarded and make the guy pay the piper rather than feign injury. At the same time, the lack of fighting in college hockey is for the best in my opinion.
-
As good of a non-Schloss article about college hockey as I've read in a while. Normally when an NHL or NYT/Post/etc. journalist writes about college hockey there are a few things in it that aren't correct, but not the case here.

Every off-season it is discussed, with teams knowing they need to offer more than was offered before.
