  1. Why not take them?  Notre Dame would probably join if the conference was national in scope.

The conference tournament could be in Vegas, Phoenix, Target Center, and Chicago.  Much more bucks with those schools.

They would not be in it for the long haul. Hosting a conference tournament in any of those other locations would fare akin to the regionals in Grand Rapids or Cincy.  Conferences aren't 'the more the merrier'.  I wouldn't change a thing.

  2. Would think UNLV and Ariz St are locks for the NCHC if UNLV pulls the trigger.  The Big Ten will not take UNLV.  They have less of a shot than UND.  Ariz St would love a regional rival.

the nchc is like-minded institutions with hockey as the marquee sport at each school.  Pass on both of these schools. WCHA/B1G can be the revolving door.

  3. Brad tweeted a link link to a report about UNLV actively working to step up to D1.  nice way to backdoor into the Pac 12.  article also mentions Oregon as furthest along of current pac 12 members and USC doing their homework.  Stanford just needs to allocate from its monster endowment.  I'll be a ducks season ticket holder on day one.

  4. It's bogus, but in all likelihood UND is one of the teams that voted for it along with BC, BU, DU and the few others able to get blue chips.  Big Ten really wasted their surprise ability to usurp the rest of college hockey on a non-issue.  This alone doesn't help them, and now everyone will suspect them of having something else cooking.  Personally,  I was still wait and see on whether or not Big Ten was good or bad for college hockey as a whole (WCHA destruction not withstanding),  but this seals the deal.

  5. St. Cloud is consistently good and a fun opponent to watch. Underrated rival.  The upperclassmen haven't forgot them sweeping us at the Ralph two years ago, and they haven't forgotten us ending their season last year.  It is human nature for people to find reasons to look down upon others, and for whatever reason they are the target of a lot of unjustified derision. Nothing but respect for Motzko.

  6. How many of you hockey folks thought "Wild" was the dumbest nickname choice ever...and now have 17 different Minnesota jerseys hanging in your closet because that logo is just so damn cool?

Show of hands, please, by +1's or -1's.

Why sport a Wild jersey when you can rock a North Stars throwback or better yet a Sioux jersey at the X?

  7. I am with you on your last sentence, but I find your first sentence disturbing and abhorrent. You would be targeting the establishment figures that screwed this whole thing up, but would be

hurting the students and student-athletes instead. It's like Kirk said to Khan in Star Trek II.

If that's the threshold for your support of the University, good riddance.

I'm not referring to a $100 drop in the bucket like they ask for when calling every few months.  The school already looked a gift-horse in the mouth from my family.  My grandpa didn't even go to UND but donated a fully endowed full ride scholarship since he hired so many UND grads; when it wasn't disbursed a few years ago, my brother tried to claim it for his tuition that year but the school refused.  I got jerked around on a tuition waiver one semester as well.  The process leading to this stupid nickname was just the last straw for me.

  8. Well now I have a good reason to not donate when the alumni center calls.  Truly embarrassing that we will be Hawks.  Flickertails would be better.  Rough riders pairs well with Fighting Sioux.  Screw the local yokels opposed to Rough riders because of the high school.
