PC standard?
In the world of PC white males (unless they are gay) are not diverse and demand for diversity trumps all.

To be clear, do I wish the logo was at mid-field? Sure.
But it's not, and it's not going to change until naming rights at Alerus Center change.
No amount of grousing here is going to change that.

If you want a UND logo at mid-field, buy out the naming rights from Alerus Financial and put it there.
Short of that, those who own the rights will do what is within their rights.
You don't have to like it; heck, you don't even have to agree with it; you just have to deal with it.

Complaining about a roof over our heads and new state-of-the-art turf under our feet.

It's nearly as bad as complaining that the free $104 million hockey facility only added on a 3500 seat basketball facility ... for free.
That's almost $200 million in facilities that UND plays in that they've payed ... zero ... for.
For perspective, we're still waiting to close out raising the $20 million to do Phase 2 of the yet started Phase 1 of the indoor training facility.
Complaining about a mid-field logo suddenly seems pretty petty to me when all the other gifts and blessings are considered.

Isn't the set up UND pays CC for the air time and sells the ads?
I know NDSU does their own production, buys air time on stations, and then sells their own ads.
I don't know if UND does that.

We haven't had anywhere near as many problems here, but about the time we claim that, something usually bites us in the ass.
As someone said to me once, "We're just a lawn mower toss away from the next problem."

the biggest thing that the the new nickname has to do is generate dollars thru selling merchandise and in my opinon the Fighting Norse would make the most money for UND imo...

I wouldn't mind using a great horned owl mascot with UND green eyes.
They are the apex predator of, they rule, the skies in this region.
They consistently feast upon prey two and three times their size.

I do rather enjoy Fargo backers promoting the alleged greatness of their town, a town where the dump is in city limits and on two major streets no less (and their refuse burial site is in city limits too).

Considering that according to 2009 data over 47% of North Dakotans are of German ancestry ... uh, Norse? Uh, ... no.
(Let Minnesota have "Norse" on their no Super Bowls football team.)

Why would Rough Riders work? Because many states use the state nickname as the flagship university's moniker. And what is ND's nickname? The Rough Rider State.
Why would Reapers work? Because of history and future. Farmers of the distant past were called reapers. More recently grain harvesting equipment was called a reaper (the McCormick reaper). Because of the ag focus, use that theme on green uniforms. Today there's a UAV designated the MQ-9 Reaper. Use that theme with white jerseys. And the (Grim) Reaper most of us think about with that word? Black jersey.

"Norse" should not work under the NCAA's "RENO" rule ... the rule that caused the demise of the last moniker.
RENO -- no monikers relating to Race, Ethnicity, or National Origin.
Then again, they only seem to selectively enforce that rule.

I think we should have a picture of something in ours that represent North Dakota or Grand Forks. What would that be though?
The endzone is flat and level. It's either green or has a white overlayer.
What more representative do you want? Replace the corner pylons with sandbags maybe?

I miss the old school logos:
- the Hartford Whalers logo with the obvious W, the subtle H, and the whale tail
- the old (yes, baseball) Milwaukee Brewers "mit" logo that was an M (glove fingers) and a B (glove thumb and palm) and a baseball in the mit.
Most new logos just aren't that creative.
