  1. Pardon...we'll subtract the pregnancy and throw in murder. One of the children becomes a murderer. Going to trash the entire family now?

Well, there is precedent in some places ... ;)

All 12 were machine-gunned three days later, with other members of North Korea's most famous pop groups and their immediate families forced to watch. The onlookers were then sent to prison camps, victims of the regime's assumption of guilt by association, the reports stated.

  2. What's your opening play?

Shot-gun, four wide (three to the wide side right) and a back to the right of Bartels.

    Bobbled snap.

Picked up by Bartels, scramble over left guard, fall forward.

    Second and six.

  3. best of luck jim, but could you have not announced this 2-3 months ago to allow hakstol to replace you.

The most common roster shape in both the Blais and Hakstol eras is three goalies, eight defenseman, and fifteen forwards, for a total of twenty-six.

With the departure of "Jim", guess what the roster shape is.

  4. I'd say Mollberg is in a pretty good position. Everyone knows he's going to get playing time, but he doesn't get the monstrous scrutiny of a freshman starter.

I'll say right now that someone will play themselves into the starting role for Game 2.

  5. No, this is UND following the NCAA settlement and protecting the its trademarks. ScottM can explain better, but basically, to protect the trademark, UND has to periodically use it in public commerce. Hence, we'll see retro gear marketed from time to time.

  6. At least they are going with every game being a 3 point game. The NHL system with 2 point (win in regulation) or 3 point games (win in SO and SO loser gets magically appearing extra point) is corrupt in my opinion.

    My opinion?

    Five point games.

    5 - Win in regulation

    4 - Win in OT

    3 - Win in SO

    2 - Lose in SO

    1 - Lose in OT

    0 - Lose in regulation

    Happy headache Jim. :D

  7. I'd have to say both Fargo and Grand Forks are in pretty good company by looking at the list of college towns cited in the AIER survey. Having lived in both Grand Forks and Fargo, my reaction is that it's pretty much six of one and half a dozen of the other. Being larger, Fargo has more options in certain areas, but out here on the Plains we are used to driving two or three hours to satisfy some of those options. ... I do think, however, UND has a slightly better overall college atmosphere for what it's worth. ...

    I agree with those excerpts.

  8. Pragmatically, if the Big 5 get their way they pull about 70 FBS programs into their own "D4" level of college football. And please recall what Nick Saban said. He said those should play against each other. Too radical? Tell that to the "no more FCS games" Big Ten and the commissioner of the Pac 12. They have already started to implement insular scheduling. So what is it? Smoke? I'd say ... Fire.

What's left of FBS after "D4"? About 40 teams.

Will a 40 team division work? No.

    So what'll happen? Change.

What'll the change be? The remainder of FBS, the "below the line" schools, will need someone else to play, someone to fill out a (let's guess) a 70 to 80 team division.

Likely candidates? The top portion of FCS.

Logistics, details, to make that happen? Your guess is as good as mine; however, '82 puts out some of the concepts that seem reasonably likely.

  9. For a teachers college you sure talk alot.

    Uh, no.

UND has never been a teachers college (or in the past vernacular "normal school").

It is, by State Constitution, a state controlled university and school of mines. NDSU is an agricultural college.*

However, UND does grant degrees in Education through the PhD level.

NDSU offers education degrees but if you look closely you'll see the faculty comes in from Valley City State University (formerly a normal school). NDSU can't educate teachers by itself. It needs help (from VCSU no less).

Meanwhile, UND is creating doctors, and lawyers, and other professional degrees.

*Bolded words are quotes from the ND State Constitution, Article VIII, Section 6.1.a and b.
