  1. I believe is is strategy and it came with KG and his time with the TBL organization. TBL focuses on going to the net and shots in close from the prime areas. Mismash's goal Saturday is a prime example of the difference from last year: Kawaguchi had the puck maybe 15 feet out, he could've taken a prime shot, yet he had TWO options on the back door (Adams, Mismash). Last year those back door options were taking fly-bys of the net and weren't there. And still they are getting back to support on defense. The go to the net and still get back mindset is fully engaged.
  2. Why is shooting percentage up? Look at the shot charts from last year to this year. Last year the shots were coming from outside the prime real estate (which is dots in and down). This year shots are coming from that prime real estate and many from within ten feet of the blue paint. Goalies only save about 80% of shots from ten feet and in. (Hence the old coaching adage: Keep 'em to the outside!) 3. When it was 20-10 SF and they got the ball back, I said to the group I was with "SF better go up 27-10 and eat some clock or it could get ugly." Why is it that teams led by "Kyle S" can't do the long game-clinching drives late?
  4. The author had information. They lacked a point.
  5. Interesting way to behave as a guest in another's house.
  6. Anyone have video of Frisch and Wilke?
  7. Why not just a split?
  8. Who else is there?
  9. Most fundraising campaigns start out with a "quiet phase" where the big hitters are lined up. After that it goes public to try to close out donations.
  10. Best theory I've heard: Someone put down big calendars in the back yard and had lawn darts marked for all the games. They threw, they landed ... PRESTO! ... schedule.
  11. True. (And I'd expect some consequences with regard to team and Athletic department rules.) The irony just drips from that.

  13. Paging @jimdahl Paging @jimdahl Paging @jimdahl You're all in big trouble now.
  14. No, but when Pinto's not an option. The reason is the RH shot, the power of the shot, and it keeps two defensemen on the ice if one can play in the (wait for it) ... Ovi Office.* * Ovechkin, Caps, Washington, White House in the logo ... the Ovi Office ... get it? ... get it? ... ... I'll see myself out.
  15. Some see having to step away from Memorial (due to safety concerns with the facade of the facility) as a bad thing. I see it as a good thing, namely forcing the issue to the forefront: Get HPC Phase II done.
  16. I liked the experiment where Frisch was in that spot when Pinto was at WJC.
  17. Jason "PING!" Notermann. Next question.

  20. Apparently the judges like spelling bees.
  21. What's happened here toward Weatherby (if not true) is as bad or worse as anything that happened in that Twitter thread. nodak651 is correct when they said let all this play out.
  22. I could see needing four to replace Poolman, Peski, Kierstad, and JBD.
  23. @jimdahl most up to date "Wins needed to likely end regular season at PWR rank" at CollegeHockeyRanked.com is up. Key takeaways: There are already about 30 teams in the "win out just to get to PWR15" category, if they can even get that high. And PWR15 gets you ousted by AHA's autobid. UND and Mankato, short of Biblical collapse, are going to be at-large entries.
