Great hire ! I have a feeling this wasn't Mals hire but I think she is on a tight lease now and better do the things the university feels is best.  I don't see her happy hiring another coach with a more decorated career then hers and just got done beating her team.

Great leaders surround themselves with people who fill in their shortcomings.

The biggest thing will be the help with recruiting local talent! Need to find a way to land more local talent at UND

That's my impression; the SD schools haven't ventured far to recruit yet have shown success.

Minny first goal; Clark steals bad  pass at Omaha's blue line resulting in Gofer goal.  Minny second goal, Omaha turns it over behind their own net and pass out front to Gopher forward who chips it in.  Minny third goal; Omaha blows a tire at their own dot resulting in turnover and gwg.  Omaha plays a cleaner game last night and they would have been the one moving on; although you can't blame the kid catching an edge/blowing a tire on that last turnover.

Weak telegraphed pass, D-zone turnover, blown tire. Two of those are on players; the other is "bad bounce".

People get crucified on this board for saying parity is a factor, but ignoring it, especially in a game that is often a one-bounce game, is just wild to me.

Back when most games ended 6-4 a 'bad bounce' could be recovered from. It's 10% of scoring.
Last night a 'bad bouce' (blown tire) cost UNO a game. It was 20% of scoring in that 3-2 game.

Basically, the uncontrollable's effect on outcomes has doubled (10% -> 20%) in the last few decades, and I'd say to the detriment of the better teams.

I'm not sure excited is a reaction to look for? Its another game with another good team. It's probably all business.

Surely they read the pundits and had a pretty good idea what was coming.
Now if it'd been BC or RIT, not Mich, you'd likely see a reaction.

  6. Not so crazy crazy thoughts for Friday:

    - MTU has a goalie. That's not enough. BC hangs at least a handful.
    - Bucky has a goalie, but Q in their backyard ... first goal wins. You don't want to be chasing in this one.
    - Western comes out devil-may-care flying and stuns Sparty.
    - 2.5 penalties. UND goes over that and it's a long night.

I can't quite get past that Omaha lost because their guy just fell down.

That’’s why I miss Hrkac era 9 total goals games. Then a blown tire was 11% of scoring; now it’s 20% of scoring.

My wild, bold predictions for Thursday's four games:

    - Travel and a short week and early start will have DU sluggish for two periods. They'll need to win the third to win.
    - Cornell and Maine are unknowns to me: no comment
    - RIT will surprise but BU pulls away late
    - Goldie and Omaha? The team that scores the second goal in the game wins*. (Now watch it be 1-0.)

    I think I did this OK …

    Friday thoughts in the morning.
