2022-23 ND High School Hockey
The Sicatoka replied to NoiseInsideMyHead's topic in Non-collegiate sports
I'm guessing Mario did not have "Mr. Happy Face" on after that. -
Brent Johnson last played in early December (first half). He's played 13 games per the UND website. You can play ... and still have the year not count per the DI Manual 12.8.6.2.1 (b). If the "maximum number of contests of the playing season" means just regular season, that's 34 so the max would be (10.2+1 or) 11. But if "maximum" is max possible schedule, that would be 34 plus 4 conf tourney and potentially 4 NCAA tourney for 42. In that realm max becomes (12.6+1 or) 13. What I'm saying is, if "max games" is 42 and Johnson hasn't played since Christmas (12.8.6.2.1 (a)), this season does not count as a year of eligibility if they keep him off the ice the rest of the way. If I'm wrong and 34 is the max number, the season does count against his four eligible. Before someone says it, an injury is not required; 12.8.6.2.1 is strictly play based "does the season count". Injuries are covered under a different rule section.

Meh, … you’re out of eligibility.

Flight to DEN should be gone. Who was not on it? I'm thinking Montgomery, Schmaltz, KJ, ... and ...

Anyone have video of this?
-
LetsGoDU blog used to have good schtick; now it's just stuck up somewhere.
-
With video today, there are no mysteries save for what happens off-ice away from the cameras. And even then ...
-
Now I might be hallucinating, or recalling a nightmare, but wasn't UND after a well known horror film director's son at one time, but not sure he even committed.

Don't panic! Just data ... I'm sure @nodak651will get lost in the numbers here. https://www.ncaa.org/sports/2022/4/25/transfer-portal-data-division-i-student-athlete-transfer-trends.aspx

Video or it never happened.

But as you say ... it's where the donor wanted the money to go. One doesn't have to agree with it, or even like it, but it is the world we've made for ourselves.
-
Does any of this matter in a world of open-enrollment? Give me a PowerBall win and I can load up any HS school I choose using "Sicatoka NIL" funds to HSers.
-
You're talking in a bit of a circle: You say a practice facility would help a program ... and then take one away from hockey? Hockey uses the Olympic for off-season work and training and camps and prep for big rinks and when the main sheet is otherwise unavailable (like a concert last weekend). The plan is to have a game facility and a practice facility for the Ralph and the Betty. See page 11/25.

Way back I was presented more than once with the notion of how wonderful (ND parochial HS) would be for my personal and academic development (over my public school) ... and of course they also offered (sports/activities) and they assumed I'd keep pursuing those as I had ...

Only one is objectively measurable to base classification by.

Enrollment doesn't lie.

My pure guess: - They could have the softball field done for spring 2024. A field and grandstand is not a strenuous project. - They'd start on MVII after MVI was completed, or as each phase completes (steel, concrete, HVAC/elec/plumb, finish work). It'd make a lot of sense. All the trades to build apartments are already "there" (half a block away). If you've worked with contractors you know 1/3 the price is set up, 1/3 is the work, 1/3 is tear down. Get a second "work" in for the setup/teardown costs and the price gets better.

He's bounced around too much lately. He hasn't stuck anywhere. The red flag inched further up the pole with this. This NDSU gig better be sticky for him; that, or he needs to be studying for his insurance sales license on the side.
-
So UND poached him from SIU and WIU?

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
The Sicatoka replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
This calendar year Miami has played six games and scored two goals (and one of those was a PPG v UND in garbage time). Even terrible offenses should muster two GPG on average. Miami is short ten goals by that standard. Here's hoping they find them in St. Cloud. PS - Miami's remaining is brutal: SCSU, Omaha, UMD, WMU. -
Pierre left on good terms (to law school at UND). He's a portal entrant I'd consider taking back, and apparently so will the coaches.

Magic 8 Ball says: Don't bet against it. I could see Toews in WPG, VGK, or COL.

Someone not picking up the project, or FuFeng not going somewhere else, would each be "tells".

One more thought: When a potential adversary is doing something so obvious and overt ... why? Because it's a distraction to what else they're doing.
