  1. The NCAA constitution is a contract between the NCAA and a member. From UND to NCAA, November 4, 2005, III.B.1:
  2. The NCAA isn't a state actor, but a legal contract between parties must be carried out.
  3. Mario Puzo has already written it.
  4. 17 will get you 20. 12 will get you life.
  5. 10? 12? I say 12 with a caveat: Only 11 playing football. Why? 12 for BB means: - six pairs of travel partners - 22 regular season games But only 11 playing FB means: - 10 games in conference - 5 home, 5 road There isn't much non-conference game room in that schedule, but it sure would be easy to plan travel expenses year to year.
  6. Make sure you get one of those licenses from "the Government of the United Nations" before you try any of this.

  8. I'm declaring victory with this prediction:
  9. What's the tizzy here about coming up with a facilities plan? Having a plan on what you'd build where and in what order (when funds come available) is far different from moving dirt and pouring foundations. And if you aren't a UND supporter, wouldn't UND doing unwise things be better for your cause? Couldn't another school (in a recruiting war) come back with, "You'll be paying for their mistakes with your fees"? Me-thinks some of this protestation is fear that UND may just have the funds available (from yet defined donors) to put some of this plan in action and thus take yet another significant step forward in a facilities "arms race."
  10. From Kupchella's June 7, 2006 letter:

Good cover story PCM, but truth is PCM locks out every channel but BET on his TVs in the summer. He adds Fighting Sioux Sports Network back in each October through March. (We're not sure if the rumors of him being a roadie for Mary J. Blige are true.)
  12. Easy answer: http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?&showtopic=6445
  13. Does everyone realize that under this new NCAA (warm jell-o) stance that United Center in Chicago can not bid on hosting NCAA (hockey, hoop) events because the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks logo is all over that building? I'd guess FedEx Field is in the same situation (home of NFL's Washington Redskins) if they ever wanted to bid on hosting soccer or lacrosse tournaments. I wonder if the management groups of those facilities have "asked" Myles Brand about this yet.

  15. No, no, silly Diggler! The Kupchella quote that's before the reading from the Book of Hrkac: The One True One.
  16. Eastern ND/NW Minnesota try 970 AM WDAY. I sure hope Dr. Kupchella rolls the quote below out again.
  17. Please provide quote. Thank you.

  19. There is DII mens and womens lax. It't be hockey and lax.
  20. Come on now ....
  21. Nah, mens lacrosse and womens soccer after the FieldTurf is installed in The Al.
  22. I voted "Other" to the first question so I guess I'm obliged to explain. The question was, "MidCon Choices for Membership on Tuesday?" I picked "other" because of the word "choices" in the question. I believe the Mid-Con will only go so far as to declare various "campus visits" and then set a selection date sometime within the next four months.
  23. It gets stranger (like you'd expect less from the NCAA). The NCAA writes its own mens lacrosse rulebook. It uses US Lacrosse's rulebook for the womens NCAA game. http://www1.ncaa.org/eprise/main/playingru...;PreviewState=0 More interesting? US Lax didn't mandate 'protective eyewear' for the womens game until 2005.
  24. You're allowed to move up two sports, one mens, one womens, and the sport can not be FB or BB. Which eligible to move up mens sport is most ready for a move up? Swimming and Diving. Sorry but Golf, Cross-Country, T&F, and Baseball just aren't there. I'm with 'star2city' on the thoughts of Golf and Baseball in DI. Which eligible to move up womens sport is most ready for a move up? That's a tougher call. The womens S&D team is (relatively) weaker than the mens. Soccer and Volleyball aren't there but could probably get there just as fast as S&D could. Golf, CC, Track, Softball, and Tennis would take even more time.
