You learn something new every day: I didn't realize Leighton Broadcasting owned both KCNN-AM and KNOX-AM in Grand Forks. And I didn't realize all of the print media outlets Forum Communications has, nor did I realize that they have more television than radio outlets.

Dude, as I said, read the lax thread. It talks about the scenarios under which lax at UND would make sense. Yeah, it's a 10-page thread, but it's (rarity of rarity on the 'net) more content than flame. PS - UND's report projects $2.5 million for just a 500 seat stadium. I don't see the logic in that at all.

None of those have hockey either. What ever shall UND do? There's a whole lacrosse thread that explores the notion.

This article points to that conclusion. Television isn't going to jump aboard a money-loser.

Yup. There's just one minor little problem: There's a 15000 per game average attendance requirement to play DI-A football. You'd have to add on to The Alerus Center to hold that many. Then again, other schools have found "creative" ways to duck that. No, wait, hold on, what's it say here on the first page of the Attachements to the Final Report? But still, you have to walk before you run.

Well thank you for that. I assume you did the same for NDSU when they went DI with a previous-year "red" budget. However, I can't decide what's most humorous about this whole thread-rant (from all sides): - UND's already been assigned as going. (CEK may have something to say about that yet.) - People don't want to look at the closest neighbor's athletic budget results to see what things UND might be able to learn from them. - Believing that UND, if going, and after this much study, doesn't have answers to the tough questions that we aren't privy to (yet). All along CEK has come back to "cost" primarily (and "conference" after that). Either LTC Buning is deaf and didn't hear General Kupchella (and will get "demoted" for it), or LTC Buning has some artillery lined up.

What kind of donated "upfront monies" or endowment basis gifts did either of the SUs want as part of their transitions? What'd they actually receive?

I don't know. My question is how do you handle that when you need to "roll up" the surface for some other event in the facility? What does someplace like Metrodome do?

Why look at NDSU's budget? If they're doing good things, learn from; if they're doing bad things, don't follow.

We keep hearing about UND's budget. Where's NDSU's? You'd think if all was wine and roses that sucker'd be rolled out there and touted about. Please, someone, show me. UND's data is on the table. Show me so I (an ND taxpayer) can see for myself and compare.

I'd guess every NCAA school's does. The NCAA talks it up great too (and we know by actions it's money first, then athletes, with them). It's the dedication of the school to the athletes' success is what makes it work or not. Either you have administrators and coaches that drive for total success (academic and athletic) like Stanford or like UND, or you have Bob Huggins and Cincinnati. I was happy to see a solid look at "support systems" in the report to Kupchella.

The numbers say you could play lax in The Al. Memorial has more turf space than The Al.

But did you get ... room service ... for your efforts?
