siouxman68 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Never before have I seen such obvious diving on the part of a college hockey team (Gophers) as I did this past weekend. Twice on Saturday night Gopher players after being touched by a Sioux stick skated a stride or two and then decided to fall. Both were called hooking on the Sioux. Even Doug Woog called one of them a phantom hook. I'm curious if Hak even talked to Campion durning the game about the diving. DG Quote
airmail Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 And here I thought they just couldn't skate. Seriously, if "embellishment" against a hard nosed UND team was part of the game plan, it worked... look at the power play differences. Lots of questionable calls, and some obvious dives. Quote
FIRE HELMET GUY #26 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 "Robbie Earl Syndrome" is very contagious. Must still be floating around! Quote

PCM Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 "Robbie Earl Syndrome" is very contagious. Must still be floating around! I hear that teams incapable of scoring even-strength goals are especially susceptible to it. Quote
FIRE HELMET GUY #26 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I hear that teams incapable of scoring even-strength goals are especially susceptible to it. That sure was proven over the weekend, thats for sure! As Siounami pointed out, Wisco '06. I still have the "Dive, Earl, DIVE" flag. Wish that guy would have come back just so I could have broken it out again this year. Quote

scooterex Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 "Robbie Earl Syndrome" is very contagious. Must still be floating around! That guy was the worst, he was a good player but I had no respect for him because he always dove instead of trying to make a play. At the Final Five last year before he was called for diving I yelled out "Hey Earl, it hurts less when you wait for the ice to melt." It got the whole section laughing. Quote
mikeypat15 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I still remember was it the national title game where Robbie dove, realized there was a no call then went and scored, that was just a sad display. The announcers believed he was truly hurt and that it was an unbelievable feat. This is because they knew nothing about college hockey Quote
AZSIOUX Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 if the refs are going to call it tic tac then this will make for more diving with no negative result on the earl, i mean diver Quote
siouxnami Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 What would you think of suspensions for diving based on video tape review (even if the refs missed it)? European soccer is talking about this. I love the idea, it would cut it out immediately. Of course with a stiff penalty like this, it would need to be certain / no doubt, and I'm not sure if any this weekend would fit the bill. Quote
