AZSIOUX
page 100 in the new espn mag with iverson and melo on the cover titled TEEN DREAMS. features picture and paragraph on toews, okposo, j johnson, canada goalie carey price and sweden forward backstrom U. OF NORTH DAKOTA/BLACKHAWKS. 2006. FIRST ROUND, JONATHAN TOEWS, C, CANADA The concensus among scouts: He could skate into Chicago's lineup tomorrow. The prize of Winnipeg was on the ice for Canada in every key situation--power play, five-on-three PK, up a goal, down a goal--the complete skills package with no holes in his game. Before the tourney, the knock on Toews was that he was not a solid all-arounder who lacked magic. No more. He scored three times in the shootout agaainst the U.S.--glove side, stick side and on a deke. Highlight-reel stuff, all. nothing we have not heard before but thought it was cool he got a spot in the mag.....

This is maybe going to come out sounding all wrong, but it's interesting that 3 shoot-out goals can change the perception of a player's whole game. sprig
This is maybe going to come out sounding all wrong, but it's interesting that 3 shoot-out goals can change the perception of a player's whole game. It is a bit funny; kinda like one move three times around a Norwegian pylon, while doing nothing else against any other team (in Grand Forks, won't mention who I'm referring to). Nice to know until the shoot-out Toews was not a solid all-arounder and lacked magic.

Nice to know until the shoot-out Toews was not a solid all-arounder and lacked magic. Both yours and dagies' perceptions are amusing. What's even more amusing is, leading up to the draft, at the draft, and following the draft everyone called Toews an all around player that was very solid in his game. Suddenly he lost that? Sure Toews hasn't scored at the pace he did last season, but uh... since when was he lacking proficiency enough in the other areas to warrant losing that distinction? GeauxSioux
T is for... Toews, as in world junior double gold medallist Jonathan, who will be at MTS Centre for the Feb. 3 game against Chicago for a pre-game ceremony and autograph signing. It's a weekend off for Toews' North Dakota Fighting Sioux. Moose short on work ethic
