jk
1-0 UMD, PP goal. Sioux on a PP that is about to expire. A radio listener definitely expects the worst at this point. Good pressure on the PP but no goal. Parise and Bochenski skating with Genoway today.
jk
Siembida in net for UND. Anderson for Duluth. Connelly, Prpich and Ryan Hale together for this shift anyway. McMahon, Notermann and Spiewak I think together. Lundbohm, Massen and Prpich now out. Not sure where Prpich's regular spot is right now. SOG 9-4 UND 8:47 to go in the first. UND95
Had Genoway with Parise and Bochenski also.
jk
Siembida with a big save on a wrap-around try by Schwabe. The league is crazy, with all the big scores last night. If the Sioux could win today, gigantic IF at this point, they would have a three-point lead over three teams for fourth. All things considered, that would be a decent place to be going into the final weekend.
UND95
Sioux on the PP, let's get that 3rd ranked PP going and get this thing tied up.
UND95
Another PP chance for the Sioux, Schwabe off for Duluth.
UND95
I'm starting a "Buy the Sioux a goal" fund. I'm not sure how much goals are going for these days, but it seems lately like it must be around the 100 million mark. I have $30 to chip in. Wow, just can't get anything to go in the net. jk
First period SOG: UND 17-10. Score Duluth 1-0.
UND95
I believe Duluth had 10 shots on net.
jk
12:40 to go in the second. Sounds like UMD has had a much better period so far than in the first. Siembida with several good saves.
jk
"he had an open unklesby" says TH. Sounds like something you need to see a doctor about.
jk
Anderson scores on the delayed penalty, 2-0 UMD. Does the team have to hit rock bottom before it can bounce? Would this be it?
UND95
Games getting a bit chippy.
UND95
Period 2 comes to an end. 2-0 Duluth. Shots UND 23 UMD 19. UND outshot 9-6 in the 2nd.
U2Bad1
Anderson scores on the delayed penalty, 2-0 UMD. Does the team have to hit rock bottom before it can bounce? Would this be it? Who knows if this is rock bottom or not. If UND loses today many of us would consider that rock bottom, but if we lose to wisconsin next weekend we can certainly go deeper. sprig
Not many shots in the second. Have they quit?
UND95
I expected more at the start of this game. The Sioux had a lot of shots in the first, but I thought they would come out on fire and hitting everything in sight. I think frustration is starting to set in now. They had a few good chances in the first, but nothing went in again. A couple chances in the second, I can remember a Bochenski shot that went wide with a pretty much open net in front of him. UGGGGHHHH.....It is just getting frustrating.
UND95
UND scores, then it gets called back because of the puck being handled with a high stick. What next?
UND95
Second look on the replays, WOW!, that was a really really close call, not so sure it was a high stick anymore, but nothing that can be done now. Gotta get something going quick.
UND95
Sioux get another PP chance.
jk
I think it has gotten too comfortable to accept bad breaks and bad puck luck as the reason for losses, with not enough people accepting blame. I know I'm far away and it's easy for me to say, but the object is to score more goals than the opponent, not outshoot or outpossess them. ScottM
I agree jk. One of the things that I find very disappointing is that the coaches and many of the players are blaming "luck", "bad breaks" or whatever for this slump. Next they'll probably blame the ice, color of tape or something else. We need guys to step up and start playing like they care about winning, instead of whining about "woulda, coulda, shoulda". Ghost of Smith
Outshooting the opponets in the third period and still losing is getting to be an ugly trend.
UND95
You know, wide open net pretty much. and the puck gets shot through the crease and misses the open net. You guys have hit it on the head. Excuses and the "we are playing good, but not getting the breaks" only goes so far. At some point you need to win. Start knocking some bodies around and playing physical and bust your butt to win every single race to the puck, quit being cute and just shoot the damn puck at the net with authority and crash it hard. Ghost of Smith
They hit the post. I'm glad I'm leaving the country next week so I don't put myself another several hours of listening to these games. Its crazy how that put puck just won't go in!!
