sprig
Brandt will be in net.
ScottM
Is that a promise, or will he wander away?
sprig
LOL, Notermann with an early PP goal. Lundbohm with a "how's she goin". 2-0 Sioux early. Time out by Duluth already.
sprig
Petruik for Duluth, beats Brandt on short side from an angle. Not a good goal, I don't think. 2-1 Massen from Prpich on 2 on 0. 3-1 Sioux
sprig
3-1 after one. Anderson DQ'ed with a crosscheck to the back on someone's?? head. He's done for the weekend. Major penalty will carry over into the second.
OETKB
Some interesting comments by Tim & Craig during the game: Duluth is only 14.3% on the PP Sioux are at 25.4% entering the game Craig likes Hale & Connelly as two of the best checkers on the team. Notices that Blais is sending these guys out immediately following a Sioux goal to "bang around" and keep the opposition reeling. Reminded everyone that MSU-M is done in the WCHA after this weekend, so if the Sioux run the table, they will finish high in the league. jk
Here's my concern. The Sioux play great in the second with a 3-1 lead but can't add to it. Then all it takes is one little rush up the ice by UMD and it's a 3-2 game. The Sioux need to finish someone off.
sprig
There it is; 3-2; Greene turnover, then fails to cover the man who scores on the rebound. Second period domination by the Sioux now turns into just a one goal lead.
OETKB
What is up with the Sioux making non-goal-scorers look good lately? Today, the Duluth goals are scored by guys getting their 5th & 4th goals, respectively.
sprig
Comes down to winning the third once again, which the Sioux did well until the losing streak started. We'll see if the turnaround has begun. 3-2, second intermission.
jk
I don't know about you guys, but I'm not exactly brimming with confidence as I wait for the third period to start. I'm sure Sandy's telling his guys, "they're over there just waiting for something bad to happen, for the bounces to not go their way." Someone in green and white has to decide to put the puck in the net. Pretty or ugly, I don't care, but the red light needs to be lit. OETKB
Agreed. Sioux need to bury some chances, which has been a problem lately. Sioux are outshooting Duluth nearly 2-1, yet lead by just a goal going into the 3rd. Sioux need to take advantage on offense. Come on boys, you guys know you are more talented than most of the teams you play against, youth not withstanding. Time to prove it again! ScottM
Unfortunately, I'm at the office and our firewalls don't allow streaming audio. However, from the updates, it sounds like we're already watching the clock. Somebody needs to kick some of the "leaders" in the butt and get them to motivate the troops. jk
Didn't realize anyone was relying on updates. Sioux PP expires without much for chances. Must be about 18 minutes left in the third.
jk
Leinweber takes a tripping penalty. Dogs go on the PP. Still early in the third. and it's 3-3. This team just has problems with their heads.
jk
So now you're in a tie game in the third with a better goaltender on the other end. 15:48 to go.
ScottM
Yep. Protecting our "poor, defenseless" clients from the taxman. Every time I hit the audio feed, I'm informed that Explorer's performed an "illegal function" and then it kicks me out. Edit: Unfrigging believable. OETKB
About 15 min. to play. Shots 21-14, yet it's a 3-3 game. What is going on with the Sioux?
jk
Fylling, McMahon and Prpich on one line. Connelly, Canady and Hale on a line. Bochenski misses on a great chance. Goalie down and out and bochenski can't get it high enough.
OETKB
Bochenski misses yet another chance. The guy can't buy a goal lately.
OETKB
Despite the sellout crowd today, the commentators are saying the Sioux need more help from the crowd, who are non-existant on the audio feed.
jk
Now Zach robbed by the UMD goalie. Interesting Zach and Bochenski back together after starting on separate lines. Zach and Bochenski move down on a 3-on-1 break and don't get off a shot. Still, great pressure by the Sioux. Sounds now like the third period of the Saturday Mankato game. SOG 27-14, but it DOESN'T MATTER. 3-3 matters.
OETKB
"Another brilliant save on Parise, who can't buy a goal lately" = Tim's latest comment.
sprig
Sioux with great chances following the tieing goal. Almost expect a Duluth breakaway ending up in the net sooner or later
OETKB
Shots now 27-14 and crowd starting to get into the game again, but score, of course, still 3-3.
