DMT
Stafford leads the nation in short handed goals with 6, that is a pretty impressive stat since the record in the NHL is like 9 in a 82 game season I believe set by Bryan Roslton. Now I am not comparing college hockey to the NHL but 6 is impressive in a 20+ goal total in 36 games. SHORT HANDED GOALS Season GP G John Madden, Michigan 1996 42 10 Craig Roehl, Denver 1978 40 8 Doug Smail, North Dakota 1980 40 8 Keith Martin, Lake Sup. TC_transplant
I realize that Tech isn't as bad as they have been over say the last 5 to 10 years or so, but there is still a stigma attached to them. The fact that you say they are "usually good for at least one goal" just confirms that. Back to Back shutouts vs Tech just doesn't turn many heads. Not as many as it would against other teams anyway. JMO Tech has been shut out more than any other WCHA team this season....eight total. Anchorage is second at six. St. Cloud has been shut out twice...the same as North Dakota. As far as not getting shut out back to back very often....Tech was shut out in three straight games by CC and St. Cloud earlier this season. Elliott had a better weekend. I agree that Elliott had the better weekend. He faced more shots, played against better opposition, and only let in one more goal than Parise. That said, Tech has improved this season, judging by their record and league standing. That's good to see an old hockey power get out of the cellar like that. And the fact that they got at least a point in the 3 weekends before playing the Sioux against some very good competition (UMN, UW, and SCSU) shows that they are improving.
