Well, i think you would be wrong.  Look at all the coaches at the P4 schools who get bought out for tens of millions of dollars for the next shiny new coach.  It's essentially the same thing.

While I don’t disagree with you that the money will keep being there, it gets hard for schools to keep asking for money when the product isn’t what fans are looking for.

Talked with a P5 assistant AD that their basketball team had a “down” year this year and he said “I’m having to ask donors to double their donations for next year. It’s extremely hard to get people to give more money when the wins aren’t there this year. It’s currently not sustainable.”

Kentucky spent a crapload on MBB this year and they got bounced in the round of 32.
