The Sicatoka Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 So you can only use certain words based on the melanin content of your skin?
PCM Posted December 12, 2002 Posted December 12, 2002 Who wants to tell the Native Americans that they have no right to use the word "casino," which is derived from European languages? Gosh, the possibilities are endless.
Bacardio Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 JBB - In hearing all sides of this name change issue, that is the single biggest racist remake I have heard. Which in turn adds more flame to the fire, that this whole debate has NOTHING to do with the name being offensive. But rather a soapbox for certain individuals to scam, lie, and deceive the masses for their own person benenfit. Is it that B.R.I.G.D.E.S really means that you sell bridges? Because I have some interest in buying the Golden Gate Bridge. Oh, and by the way, are you sure I am not a Sioux Indian?
U2Bad1 Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 For the record i spent some time with a couple of native americans last night. One i guess was talking about going to a hockey game, and a girl (probably a liberal) said something like "Aren't you offended by the nickname??" The girl then said "no, why should i be??" The other native american i was with said the whole nickname issue is BS too. Just goes to prove who is really right on this issue.

The fact that we quit playing NDSU regularly in all sports after next season makes it a bit of a non-event, though. Every week maybe a stretch but there were a lot of press releases back then that the Sioun nickname must go.Well coordinated propaganda. If Spirit Lake Nation would have been the only tribe with a say the nickname issue would have taken 6 months not 10 years. 1

Yeah, 10 years... like, you know, 6 years shorter the time that this thread has been buried. What are you trying to accomplish here? 1
