Ohio State/Michigan State

Don't know how many have been watching OSU/MSU on FSN prior to the start of MN/CC, but I've been watching closely to see if the CCHA is still calling things like the WCHA did early in the season (in other words, every weanie hook or one dman getting in the way of a potential forechecker to give his defensive partner more time to move the puck being called).

To my surprise, neither team has done either during the entire first period. There is very little contact at all, almost no checking, and certainly not even marginal hooking or obstruction. I'd guess I have to believe the CCHA, at least, has stuck with the early season "rules". Either that or these teams don't play contact hockey.

If the CCHA officials, are, in fact, calling the game by the "rules" the Sheppard crew used in October, every WCHA team is in for a major shock when they play with this officiating, just as every CCHA team is in for a shock playing with one of Sheppard's incompetents on the ice.

This will be a very odd, and interesting, NCAA tourney.

How are the NCAA officials determined?

I thought each league recommended a couple or something. As I said before, I think the NCAA should tell the WCHA they don't want any of their officials since they didn't follow the crackdown on obstruction. :D

From what I gleaned off of the interview with Greg SHepherd, the NCAA officials are drawn from the hat or some system where the pool of the refs are the refs who officiated the regional division playoffs.

So far, those from the WCHA that would be represented are Anderson, Campion, Shepherd, and Adam. Not saying they would get the call, but they would be among the pool drawn from to officiate.

I wonder if there is a method of placement? Meaning, do WCHA and CCHA officials usually hang out in the Grand Rapids, Colorado Springs, and Minneapolis regionals and the HEA and ECAC officials out east?

If you ask me, the NCAA should not allow Adam to even attend the regionals as a spectator.
