Crunch, Griffins make deal

New Crunch forward Nathan Robinson was an AHL All-Star for Grand Rapids in 2004.

The Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday received center Jeff Panzer on loan from the Syracuse Crunch in exchange for left wing Nathan Robinson.

Panzer, 26, has totaled 70 goals and 164 points in four AHL seasons with Syracuse and the Worcester IceCats. Claimed by the Columbus Blue Jackets off waivers from the St. Louis Blues on Sept. 7, 2004, he contributed 18 points (8-10

What does the "on loan" part mean?  :D

It might have something to do with Panzer being property of Columbus not Syracuse, therefore Syracuse can't really trade him. They can only loan him to another team. Assuming the NHL comes back, if and when he gets called up, it will be by Columbus.

That's just a guess though.
