Cratter
Looking back upon last year what would you rather have? Would you give up the MacNaughton Cup to beat Denver and go to the Frozen Four? I personally would rather win the Cup because that's a trophy and there is no trophy for participating in the Frozen Four....just banners for SCSU. This is given that you know the team wouldn't win the NCAA championship because that would be obvious. What's the better recruiting tool? One would think telling a recruit that your team made the FF would win.
sagard
As a long time Gophers fan I have always appreciated the seasons where they have made the semi-finals more than winning league titles. The MacNaughton is great in it's own right and it is thrilling to watch the chase week in and week out. However, little compares to the excitement of watching your team play for the NCAA titles. The MacNaughton is harder to win, but there is nothing like being at the Frozen Four when your team is there too.

Turk 77
The McNaughten is a great trophy and i agree winning the WCHA is probably harder than the NCAAs. But there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your team win in the national spotlight. It takes a special team to win the WCHA the paloffs and the NCAA and UND has been blessed with some great teams that have done it
ABER
I took my two boys to Providence in 2000 with a couple buddies and their boys ........it was just unbelievable. To watch them beat Maine in the Semis and then BC for the championship in their back yard are memories that will last a lifetime. To win the MacNaughton is quite an accomplishment in itself because I think the WCHA kicks @$$, but to be at the frozen four...........and to be lucky enough to be there when your team wins it.......... 3 tickets to the Frozen Four........$250.00 3 plane tickets to Providence, RI.........$1,500 To be with your two sons watching the Sioux win the National Championship with Doug Flutie pouting in the stands...................Priceless!!! beersong
I know I had more fun being in Boston last year than I would celebrating a MacNaughton for one night.

#1Hakfan
For sure its harder to win the WCHA league race. Just look at last year. Denver didnt make it to the final five, they were 13-10-5 in the wcha and they really had no business even being in the Ncaa playoffs(two years ago they wouldn't have been in). I still have a hard time accepting it. Zack, Bo, Dean and the rest of team deserved the championship more then they did(look what we did to them in the regular season). All they did was win 4 games by flipping the puck out to center ice. I do think Denver is a lot better team this year. Sorry about going off, but if BC, Maine, or Minn-Duluth, Michigan would of won they would of deserved it because along with UND they had championship seasons. I know I am really crying now, but its to bad we could do best of 3 series. They did that in the early 90's. The better team got home Ice for all games. Well with Denver winning I guess it gives every team hope not to quit on the season, just try make it in the playoffs and see what happens. But yes, the NCAA championship is most prestigious.
