Blame UND - not Fox?

Because schools can initiate negotiations for TV contracts PCM. Not everyone is out to get the Sioux, UND should get a little more proactive in gaining more coverage and recognition for its' great teams rather than sitting back and reacting to whatever coverage is availiable in other locations.

ps - and i don't mean charging money for a poor quality internet video stream

I live in SOuth Dakota and get all the home hockey games. Considering hockey is not that big in South Dakota, I feel very fortunate that FSSN was created and a very proactive move by UND and REA. What more do you want?:glare: It is really not UND's fault that the FSN moves the Goph's to the night game. You are barking up the wrong tree on this on Basil.

Considering the first question in your first post asked, Does Fox, and Fox only, have the exclusive rights to the final 5?, the remainder of your argument in your separate post is based on flawed logic and supposition. If Fox has exclusive rights, then what is the point of UND being more proactive with regard to broadcasting the Final Five?

Perhaps before being so snide to others you should take pause and find the answer to your original question.

I find it ironic that you are bagging on PCM, who regularly shares great insight, information and knowledge about things/issues related to UND hockey, AND called YaneA a tool last week for posting game sign ideas, which have been fun for a lot of people, when it becomes more apparent with each of your posts who the real tool is.

Well he obviously isn't on my level, but some may consider him an expert. :glare:

Stop being so lazy and get this contract negotiated. I don't care if you are on spring break. ;)

And while you're at it, stop using my trademark. :)

And you're some kind of expert on negotiating TV contracts?

Look PCM, it is simple. Obviously the Gophers, BU, and Norte Dame for example get TV deals done. One needs not be a negotiating expert to see that. So, if the WCHA doesn't have a league deal, UND should make a move of their own - aside from this pay-per-view business. Your reply shows that you are more willing to look for a conspiracy than at facts.

You're talking apples and oranges. Negotiating a "league deal" isn't even close to being the same thing as negotiating a contract to broadcast a single game. I'm certainly no expert, but I do know enough to understand that there's a vast difference between the two.

I'm not going to pretend to know what has to happen for this game to be broadcast. I do know that before MSC became FSN, the Friday afternoon tournament game was broadcast. Obviously, FSN is in the driver's seat. They have the people, facilities and equipment in St. Paul and in the Xcel Center to do the game.

Why won't they? I really don't know.

YOU have yet to cite a fact. You keep asking, if this, if that. WTF, if you don't know the answer, then stop blasting others and put a lid on it.

Now showing, Conspiracy Theory, starring matinee idol, PCM! :glare:

What the heck is the FSSN then? A figment of our imaginations? They televise all the home games and some road games, which is better then a kick in the face.

What exactly is UND supposed to do? Make a Fox Sports North Dakota? That is unrealistic, they would need to include South Dakota as well. And creating a new Fox SPorts isn't like snapping your fingers and making it appear, I would imagine. Even assuming that it was created I'm sure that would work real well with NDSU and SDSU fans wanting to see their BB teams playing on friday and saturday nights, not UND hockey. So again, what is UND supposed to do that would put all the games on TV?

I just finished listening to the WCHA Final Five conference call.

No, not just Fox has the rights.

The "St. Paul group," according to Commissioner McLeod, has the rights by contract. That includes The Wild, The X, and Fox, from what I could gather.

But that group does own and control the exclusive rights. You have to deal with them.

Yes - why not? For charging the highest ticket price around - they owe it to the fans that pay to attend the home games to try to get the road games on air.

For charging the highest ticket price around - ....

Highest average per game price in the mens WCHA: Mariucci Arena's tenant.

But you didn't answer PCM's question: What can UND or even REA do when someone else controls the rights?

The fix for this has to come not from a school but from the league because it is a league contract that gives the rights to the Final Five.

You're just not getting it, are you?

Thank you - that was my original question...whether Fox had exclusive rights, the league did, or if a school could step in here.
