FightingSioux87 Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Its cheaper to tear in down and start over. Problem is---where do you play for the two years you build the new one unless you build someplace else. Then you have the issues of funding. I just dont see the people of Fargo going for more taxes. Heck they could play at the Alerus for 2 years! Quote
SiouxVolley Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 Looks like the UA trustees might force UAB to drop football. UAB doesn't have any non-conference games scheduled beyond 2016, when all their coaches contracts expire. UA trustees run the Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Huntsville campuses and they want more of the pie and students to go the Tuscaloosa. UAH hockey was almost dropped because the same political reasons. UA wants more of UAB's programs, as UAB actually has a name in the med field and a Med School. UAB is averaging 23k and is sixth in CUSA. If UAB drops football, they would be expelled from CUSA. Might get in the A10, but anything below that would be a big drop. The schools that might be licking their chops to get into CUSA are UMass (at least football), La-Lafayette, Georgia State, and FCS schools Mo St and JMU. If any of ULaLa, Ga St, or Ark St get an invite the Sun Belt need another school to get to 12. They are at 11 now, and will likely drop Idaho, and if they lose one school to CUSA they would need three. Eastern Kentucky is probably a shoe-in at this point. They sun Belt wanted Mo St and JMU, but those schools want CUSA rather than go to the Sun Belt. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/11/former_uab_football_players_co.html?hootPostID=4a472c9d6356aaae8af4fd696059fa50 https://www.scribd.com/fullscreen/245652295?access_key=key-5ECmEqrzIKzum0MvY1t1&allow_share=true&escape=false&view_mode=scroll Quote
