PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL All-Stars will take the Carver Arena ice at the Peoria Civic Center on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT for the Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Skills Competition. Sponsored by the Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino and hosted by the Peoria Rivermen, the Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game will be played at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday at Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center. Tickets to the All-Star Game and Skills Competition are available by telephone at (309) 676-1040, x106. Competing for the Western Conference in the Sher-Wood Puck Control Relay will be Idaho's David Cornacchia, Augusta's Greg Jacina and San Diego's Greg Barber. Competing for the Eastern Conference will be South Carolina's Kevin Spiewak, Greensboro's Tom Reiman and Columbia's Alexandre Burrows. In the one-on-one puck control relay, it will be Mississippi's Brent Gauvreau representing the Western Conference against Reading's Jonathan Zion of the Eastern Conference. Competing in the Western Conference in the CCM Fastest Skater competition will be Columbus' Jean-Francois Plourde, Alaska's Joe Talbot and Fresno's Kevin Truelson. Representing the Eastern Conference will be Florida's Brian McCullough, Atlantic City's Sam Paolini and South Carolina's Kevin Spiewak. The record for the event is 13.335 seconds by Jeff Lazaro of New Orleans at the 1998 ECHL All-Star Game in Lafayette, La. In the KOHO Hardest Shot competition, the Western Conference will have Gwinnett's Troy Milam, Las Vegas' Dave Cousineau, Louisiana's Ben Storey and Pensacola's Corey Neilson while the Eastern Conference will have Atlantic City's Brian Fahey, Dayton's Nate Kiser, Toledo's Morten Ask and Peoria's Randy Rowe. Augusta's Jaroslav Obsut holds the record with a shot of 99.3 mph at the 1999 ECHL All-Star Game in Biloxi, Miss. In the ITECH Rapid Fire competition, the Eastern Conference shooters will be Johnstown's Jason Notermann and Florence's Mark McRae against Louisiana goaltender Frederic Cloutier, Cincinnati's Ryan Brindley and Florida's McCullough will shoot against Michael Garnett of Gwinnett and Greenville's Chris Lynch and Charlotte's Dusty Jamieson will shoot against Idaho's Dan Ellis. The Western Conference shooters will be Las Vegas' Justin Kelly and Alaska's Charles Linglet against Atlantic City's Scott Stirling, Bakersfield's Andrew Ianiero and Texas' John Snowden against Trenton's Chris Houle, and Pensacola's Greg Chambers and Long Beach's Nick Ganga against Johnstown's Cory Campbell. Maxime Gingras of Richmond set the rapid fire record in 1999 stopping 17 of 20 shots. In the accuracy competition, the Western Conference passers will be Neilson and Gauvreau while the shooters will be Plourde, Kelly and Mississippi's Steffon Walby. The Eastern Conference passers will be Reiman and Rowe while the shooters will be Roanoke's Shawn Limpright, Reading's David Masse and Wheeling's Jason Jaffray. Dave Seitz of South Carolina set the record in the shooting accuracy when he broke all four targets in five shots in 1999. In the ITECH Breakaway Relay, the Western Conference's Ellis will face Paolini, Jamieson, Brindley, Burrows, Kiser and McRae while Garnett will face Fahey, McCullough, Reiman, Lynch, Notermann and Masse and Cloutier will face Zion, Limpright, Spiewak, Ask, Jaffray and Rowe. The Eastern Conference�s Campbell will face Linglet, Jacina, Ianiero, Plourde, Truelson and Milam while Houle will face Cornacchia, Chambers, Cousineau, Ganga, Storey and Walby and Stirling will face Kelly, Gauvreau, Neilson, Barber, Snowden and Talbot. Wonder if the WCHA would ever do something similar at the Final Five, no? Watch. It's going to be in Walter's column soon.
