UNDLAW
Here is the (unbelievable) response I got from Jamie at the Ralph: "We have changed frequencies this year. There was no problems with the uplink last weekend.. Here is the info.. http://theralph.com/new2/Watch_The_Sioux_S...llite.htm" Guess it was just me! Blackheart
UNDLAW (HS?), I think it was more than just a change in the frequencies because most of what I have read says that people got the signal but it was very weak/inconsistent for parts of the game.... UNDLAW
Except for those with their own satellite systems as well as the cable tv FSSN providers, it was not a problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly! If you are going to advertise to sell a satellite system to pick up the game, you better be sure your tranmissions can be picked up on the satellite systems you are selling! Anyone have an email address of someone higher up the chain... maybe I can send them a "legal" response...
sprig
Maybe both Chris and Jamie should be directed to this link to see all the problems "everyone" had on Saturday night. Something wasn't right, and it may take a year (like dataflix) for anyone to admit there is a problem.

Cratter
I was watching the game on channel 23 in GF at Southgate but wasn't actually watching it, cause it was unwatchable.
iceberg
All they changed was polarity & frequency From 12041 H 4880 to 12000 V 4880 Just because they changed the frequency they shouldnt have lost signal. I talked with a guy who had a 1.2 meter (twice the size of my dish) and he hit a booming 40 quality and it broke up all night. I suggest people e-mail the Ralph and explain the frustration...be polite though
Fedorov
I was informed that it was Midcontinent's tower that didn't send out a good signal. WDAZ is not happy because the people who paid for commercials are not happy. At this point I don't care who is to blame, I just want it fixed by the next game. If I wanted to watch crap like that, I would get dataflix.

sprig
Below is my last weeks emailing with the REA (Chris) and my cable TV company (NCC, Ray). These type of changes have been going on frequently since NCC added FSSN last December. Very frustrating to expect a game and have it shut down due to late satellite?? chanages at REA. Even more frustrating that they never admit something was done. You can tell there is frustration at NCC also in Bernie's reply: The transmission parameters from the Ralph Englestad center were changed the day prior to the broadcast, from horizontal polarization to vertical. We received them last year using horizontal polarization (fixed) on our dish. We have no equipment to receive the satellite at present with vertical polarization. It is being worked on this week, to add the necessary equipment which will give us the flexability to receive either horizontal or vertical polarization from that satellite, whichever they choose to fit their whim. If they decide to change satellites, then we're more than likely screwed again. We're doing all we can to obtain and transmit those games. Please bear with us. Sincerely, Bernie Arcand, Marketing Rep. 1-800-245-5884 > Cable channel 60 advertised the Sioux hockey game on FSSN, but today > says that changes have forced you to cancel the broadcast tonight. iceberg
The transmission parameters from the Ralph Englestad center were changed the day prior to the broadcast, from horizontal polarization to vertical. I couldnt get it to log in at 12000 V 4880...only 12000 H 4880. So the above is wrong

sprig
My cable company told me they had a combination dish, that could be tuned to C or K band (many of you understand this, i don't, I'm not sure the "band" letters I listed are right, he just named two different ones). At any rate the horizontal to vertical change made it impossible for them to tune in a clear signal to FSSN (sounds similar to all of your problems). THe solution is to put up a dish that tunes to C band only; the cable co has bought the new equipment, and is hoping to have it installed and tuned by this Friday, but are unsure if they'll get it ready. So, out west we may be without FSSN another weekend.
