Sioux on Satellite

PSB

Recommended Posts

I promised Pete I'd post my "customer satisfaction" on the board.

I had Pete install a satellite receiver about a month ago, and the reception is excellent. It is as clean as my DirecTV. You won't be seeing me at Joe Sensor's watching the Sioux. The dish will pay for itself with the savings on chicken wings and beer alone. Pete also re-adjusted my DTV dish, which was poorly installed. It was worth having him come out just to do that. If anyone out there ever has signal fade on their DTV or Dish system, I would suggest you call Pete. Since he re-aligned my DTV dish, we've never lost signal, even in the lousiest weather. Before Pete helped, any snow and light to moderate rain killed our signal. And his technical support after-sale is great, too. He walked me through the menus over the phone when I couldn't get a game in December.

Looking forward to this weekend's series. I'll get to watch most of it, working around my son's high school hockey schedule (that always comes first).

Go Sioux

Not sure if you mean me, but I did buy mine from MySatPros. The specific one can be found at the link below:

I got the Satwork complete sytem with the ST3618 receiver. Got it mounted and pointed last weekend. Well, it is pointed at something. I could blind search several channels but since the Sioux were not on it would not pick up their channel. Pete told me to look for Freq. 12170, Pol. H and S/R 20760. If I could get that channel then I am pointed in the right direction and will see the Sioux also. I guess the big test will be this Friday.

Go Sioux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nodaker,

You should try to pull in freq. 11780, pol. H, s/r 20760. This is CCTV (Chinese), and is on all the time. It is a very strong signal. If you can't get this, you won't be able to get FSSN, and inversely, if you can get it, you will be able to get FSSN. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO BEFORE FRIDAY EVENING. The sooner the better. Also Sioux Illustrated, the TV show, airs on FSSN on Thursday at 7 pm. If you want to absolutely verify your dish point before game time on Friday, you can check to see if you can pull that feed in.

Sorry if I gave you the wrong numbers to put in? I can confirm its as above for the Chinese channels and thats where you want to be pointed...

11780/H/20760

If you get them do a blind search and you will find the games/shows but only when they are on GOOD LUCK. Remember you need signal "Quality", the signal strength does not mean anything, no quality no picture. When you move the dish do it slowly then dont move it again for 2-3 seconds to give the receiver a chance to decode the signal. The next best tip is to keep the mount as plumb as you can and you wont be far away. Drop me a line or give me a call if you are stuck, and I will try my best to help you or anyone out.

No sprig, I didn't go crazy. The "it" that I ment I was going to be looking for was the Chinese channels, not the Sioux Illustrated show. I did find 2 Chinese channels (CCTV-4 and CCTV-9) and they were at freq. 11780 and polarity H but the S/R was 20781 not 20760. Are these the channels you (DamStrait and Psb) were refering to? I hope they are because I get a rvery strong signal quality reading of 87-90%

Go Sioux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This conversation reminds me why I have Midcontinent Cable. (They carry FSSN.)

PS - To test your systems out, don't forget that "Sioux Illustrated - The TV Show" is on at 7:00 pm Thursday nights (GF time) and re-run before Friday home games at 7:05 pm (game time 7:35 pm).

I also wanted to add my thanks to Psb on this message board. Regrettably, I didn't purchase my system from him, (which would have saved me time and money) but he still helped me out tremendously when I had problems installing the system myself. He has a wealth of knowledge about this dish stuff and like I said before has been a huge help for me through this process. Anyway, if you are looking for a dish I would recommend checking out Psb's website as your first step.

To everyone that now has a working dish...enjoy the games this weekend I know I will. And to anyone interested in a kegerator, I'll tell you it's a worthwhile investment.

Thanks for the program update. I was unaware of Sioux Illustrated TV. Can't watch tonight, I'm a season ticket holder for White Bear Lake High School hockey. But I will tune in tomorrow night.

Is there any other Sioux sports (basketball or womens hockey) scheduled on FSSN this winter?

Thanks

This is also the system I got on www.mysatpros.com It's getting installed today so I don't know yet how it works. I'm optimistic!

Yes, thank you for the Sioux Illustrated TV show info. I will have the SO check it out tonight (beer night for me :p ) I'm glad there is a way to check the signal before we go "live" tomorrow night. Really looking forward to the games.

I also want to add that Pete was VERY helpful to me. Even with him knowing I lived in CO and he would not be able to get my business here, he was more than accomodating. Thanks, Pete! ;) Should we make that leap to the Cities you'll be the one I call!

Siouxfan, I also live in Colorado, near Colsprings, who is doing your install?

~danke!

Name is Broadband PC and TV Satellite Systems. They are installing as we speak so I will let you know if they do a good job. They're in the Springs also. I called some other ones and one was down-right rude! Very! Typical Colo. Spgs. customer service, the guy I went with was pretty decent though. Nothing like Pete though.

I don't mind the solitude of Nodak, it's the damn cold, the musketoes, the long winter, the LOOONG, dark, bitter cold winter, the short, hot, muggy summer...

Yes I would be interested on how the installs go and how much they are charging, one fan (above) from NY told me he paid $300 just for the install !!!!!!! A good place to find an installer nationwide is www.dbsinstall.com Tell them I sent you if you use anyone from it, please. You should ask the installer if he has ever done a Ku Band install before and what type of meter he will use for the install, if he says he uses a small TV hang up the phone, you can do that your self, you can buy a lot of beer for $300, or so I am told : ) I never knew about the Thursday night show! I will be there!

So what's not to like? :p:ohmy:

I used to have a t-shirt that stated:

"Welcome to North Dakota, set your watch back 20 years..."

I still find it to be true, though not necessarily derogatory depending upon your view of the state of the world outside of ND...

After living in Minneapolis the last few years, I definitely view it as a compliment.

So am I getting this right? If I were to buy one of the dishes and receivers and get them pointed at the right coordinates, I would be able to get all the games broadcasted on the FSSN?

Would I have to pay a monthly service fee like Direct TV? Or is it just a one time expense?

Does it interfere at all with the Direct TV signal?

Can you record the games on your VCR?

Sorry for all the questions--but I am very interested.
