petey23 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Datysuk, Staal, and Kesler named finalists for the award. Some important stats for consideration Total FO Dats: 55.1% Kes: 55.1% Staal: 48.3 x: 57.3 y: 52.9 FO won vs lost while being Shorthanded Dats: 48.2 Kes: 48.9 Staal: 44.3 x: 47.6 y: 48.8 Total Take Aways Dats: 132 Kes: 83 Staal: 41 x: 69 y: 51 Penalty Minutes (because a good defensive player won't put his team at situation where they can get scored on) Dats: 18 Kes: 104 Staal: 57 x: 47 y: 24 Plus minus Dats: 17 Kes: 1 Staal: 19 x: 22 y: 22 This was in the NHL section of espn.com, I added the relevant stats for player x and y. Many will probably be able to figure out who they are. I have thought all year that player y should be in the running for the Selke this year and as I was doing some research, player x kind of jumped off the page as well. Quote
farce poobah Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Good topic. Datysuk is astoundingly good all over the ice. However, Player X has become one of the NHL's finest along the walls. Watch how many 1 on 1 battles he wins in a game. This is a big part of how his team has the puck most of the game. I would have gone Datysuk, Kesler and X. Quote
yzerman19 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Player X's Gold medal probably feels alot better than a Selke Trophy. I do think that he is easily the best two-way center in the game right now. Quote
petey23 Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Player x is obviously Toews and player y is probably the most underrated player in the NHL right now as far as a "name" goes in Travis Zajac. Quote
