BringDeanBack Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 We could keep the name...when Minnesota and Wisconsin bolt for a Big Ten conference they could choose not to play UND. They might not play us as much even if we change the nickname. Minnesota isn't known for loading up on their non-conference schedule. Quote

Seriously though.............have the staunch nickname supporters sunk to the point that their new battle cry will be to blame the basketball programs for the demise of the name and logo? Funny, I don't remember alot of backlash being thrown their way back in the ealry 90's when the first Sioux Head logo went away in favor of the geometric one, at time when the Men's Basketball team was dominating and the hockey team was, for lack of a better term, sucking. No, people aren't blaming the basketball team for losing the nickname. However, you and I both know that the reason the process is getting pushed along quicker than necessary is to accommodate the basketball teams finding a conference. Don't act like that isn't the driving factor here. Even when the hockey team sucked, and it did for awhile there, it was always entertaining. The real poopy years still had guys like Russ Romaniuk, Dixon Ward, Greg Johnson, etc that would light up the scoreboard. Unfortunately, those teams also couldn't stop teams from scoring. Quote
