Brucesky02
I was recently home in Raleigh, North Carolina visiting my family when an ad in the sports section caught my eye. The University of North Carolina is having an alumni game to kick off their 100th season of basketball. Given their storied history, there are a lot of noteworthy former players that will be playing in the game. This got me thinking - given the success of our program and how many quality hockey players have come from here, why not have an alumni game? It would be a great way to kick off the year and/or fill the off season. All of the proceeds could go to a worthy charity, much like what UNC is doing. You can read about the Carolina game here: Carolina Alumni Game

You can read about the Carolina game here: Carolina Alumni Game UND had an alumni hockey game several years ago. I believe that it was held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of hockey as a varsity sport (maybe 1998 or 1999). It was during the summer and held at the old Ralph, I believe it was in July. It was so warm out that there was a fog hanging over the ice. But it was a fun event. They had part of the event on campus and then I think that a bunch of the players ended up at someone's lake cabin for the rest of the weekend. Edit: I think it was a free event and attendance wasn't real huge, probably only a few hundred in attendance but it could have been more. The Sicatoka
And you thought there was no contact in NHL All-Star games ...
82SiouxGuy
It was a pretty free wheeling game, at least the parts we could watch through the fog. IIRC Eddie Belfour even played wing instead of playing goalie.
Detroit87
There have been numerous unofficial alumni games played in the past after hockey camps got over for the day.
