Paukovich Hit

LOL at all you clowns who think Steve Downie is going to get pummeled. "If this, if that...blah, blah, blah." Hilarious.

Dream on. He can handle himself. There is nothing as heartwarming as seeing an opposing player laying on the ice, an official escorting a Flyers player off the ice, and seeing the deluded fans standing up crying their little eyes out.

Steve Downie is the Alpha and the Omega.

im sure you are just trying to get a response from this post, which worked, otherwise you are truly dillusional, but there are plenty of players in the nhl who could "handle" downie quite easily. he is not the toughest player in the nhl, nor is he the best fighter. i have nothing against hard nosed players. the sioux have had plenty of them, currently and in the past. some players have trouble controlling their aggresion and keeping it clean. downie has showed that tendancy in the past. i hope he cleans up his act and plays a hard, clean game, as he could be a solid nhler who i would enjoy watching, but he's not off to a good start.

I saw Paukovich play here in Bakersfield 3 or 4 times last year and he definitely did not play with an edge. This guy obviously doesn't learn from his mistakes. You would think that ass kicking he took from Greener would have taught him something, guess not. As for the Holy Cross statement, I agree, that doesn't get old. Since Dale_Reinhardt signed here again, I will be reminded of it every game this year.

I'm with brianvf, but I will say this:

I find it interesting now that Paukovich has hospitalized two players, both got their education at NCAA schools (Bina with UND and Greentree with UA-Fairbanks).

It may have been a dirty hit, but it is time to move on. I hate dirty players and I hate dirty plays. I don't like players like Downie because of that.

But I don't hope Downie or Paukovich get return favors. They don't need to be driven through the boards, have their faces messed up, or whatever could be imagined. Look, retaliation has happened before and it cost a man his reputation (Bertuzzi -- and yeah, I know many people consider the hit that "provoked" Bertuzzi's reaction was legal, but it wasn't percieved as such by Vancouver and Bertuzzi acted upon it in the most terrible fashion). So you tell me: Let's say Matt Greene is, for some reason, placed on the ice with Paukovich... how would Greene be looked upon if he retaliated on behalf of Greentree? To me, it would just turn Greene into another Bertuzzi. Who wants that?

what does the 2 players getting NCAA educations have to do with anything? or were you just pointing that out?

just to point out, that probably wouldn't happen because Greene had a very specific reason for retailiating in the Bina hit. Bina and Greene were roommates/best friends. Greene wanted to retaliate when it happened but he didn't dare in that game or the national championship game because too much was at mistake. Paukovitch knew it was coming because Greene had told him that the day would come. It was Greene's way of saying that you don't mess with his friends.

I get your point, but the likely hood of it is very low even hypothetically.

The only problem with Punkovich is that he has a history of attitude and behavioral issues that go back a long way. This kid does not belong in a sport where a retaliation hit is a way to get even. I know a guy who coached Punko and his brother when they were young and believe me the stories never end......and don't forget the charges that brought up against him when he was around 16 or so. I am just saying there is a history with this kid. You don't just move on. The kid needs to get help.

All I have to say is that Steve Downie is nothing but a piece of crap! He doesn't even deserve to play in the NHL, and I hope he gets his ass knocked out silly for his cheapshots. He goes after teammates, he goes after opponents, he plays dirty, cheap and ruthless, yet he is the biggest piece of !@#$! How can the NHL even agree to allow that wussy puss in a first-class league is beyond me!!! Get Downie out of the NHL forever, he is a total disgrace to the best game in the world.
