The journey of T.J. Oshie has many twists and turns along the beaten path since 1991.

From 1991-2002, Oshie was a member of the Seattle Jr. Hockey NW Admirals AAA Hockey Club who participated in the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

For Oshie, it was a vision of things to come in his young career.

In the summer of 2002, Oshie traveled along with his family to attend the Hockeytown USA Hockey School in Warroad, Minnesota, directed by Cary Eades. When he left, he knew the Warroad H.S. Warriors was his destiny.

Prior to his arrival in 2002, Oshie, along with his father, Timothy, brother Taylor and sister Tawni, each received their Ojibwe names from a spiritual elder named Joseph Big George, from the Buffalo Point Reserve in Canada. The Oshie

As we all wait patiently for the games to begin, a finer story on history, tradition, and commitment could not be presented. While it well epitomizes what makes Fighting Sioux hockey great, more importantly, it captures what makes pride of family, culture, and lineage great.

These days, too many folks are too quick to look at what is going wrong in this world. Here is one story, among many that are out there, as to what is going right in this world.

History teaches us that we cannot possibly know where it is that we are going unless and until we know where we have been.

T.J. Oshie well knows both where he has been, and to where he is going. A great story.

Thanks a million for three great seasons Keeway Gaaboo. As equally important, thanks to all of the fine lads who will be lacing them up and pulling on the jersey this Thursday and Saturday in Denver. The coaches and reserves too.

It has been a great season. The season is about to get a whole lot better. Keeway Gaaboo has come home. With his teammates working alongside him, they will be bringing home the hardware. They have already brought home to us the things that matter most . . . History. Commitment. Pride. Tradition.

It is a culture and family thing. For many of us, that family and culture is that of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Hockey.

we could all tell the first time he stepped on the ice donning a sioux jersey that the osh was special. it is cool to read a little about his background. sadly this will be the last weekend we get to see him in the best sweater in hockey, but at least it wil be in person . thanks for three great seasons keeway gaaboo, and best of luck throughout your professional career and life. your sioux family will always be behind you.

This story has been revised with a passage from Chuck Grillo, a Pittsburgh Penguins Scout and Director of the Minnesota Hockey Camps in Nisswa, MN, where many NHL / NCAA / Pro Hockey players train each summer. It tooks a look at Oshie as a symbol for Native America. It's a great read.

Great article. I have never seen a player, or a team as a matter of fact that is as determined as this one. Oshie's greatest strength lies not in the points he scores but in the way he changes the game every time he steps on the ice. This team feeds off of Oshie's and Lammy's energy and the level that they play at throughout every moment of every game. If any team in the last 4 years has what it takes to win #8, it is definately this one. BC is going to have it's hands full on thursday.
