  1. Well I'm getting ready for the hockey drought of summer. I was looking through the tapes that I have and my sister has and we've got the frozen four, but neither of us taped the Final 5. Wondering if anyone has them and could copy them for me (I would pay for the copying, s&h etc.). Really would rather watch us winning than losing. (also looking for western playoff tapes). Thanks to anyone who can help.
  2. With regards to the goalie situation, I propose that we all flood Ed Belfore's web site with requests for him to visit UND with his son Dayn - supposedly pretty good (not sure how old he is though) - he's been practicing and playing scrimages with his dad and the Toronto Maple Leafs - gotta have a little moxie to do that as a teenager and we all know how much head games figure into goalie play.
  3. Chill people - Chill I'm as inconsolable (sp) as everyone else about all these players leaving early, but I would rather have them here for a year or two than not at all. Remember that if we start putting restrictions on how long they have to stay here before signing (the NHL sure isn't going to put an age limit on when they can sign a phenom like crosby) the great players will go play in the "Major Juniors" (or whatever that league is up in Canada) and blow by college and then I couldn't watch the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs with my nephew and have him say - "Remember when we used to watch Mike Comodore (sp) when he played with the Sioux?" That keeps his dreams alive - "I saw Zack, Bo, Comodore, Hale etc. play on TV last night." We actually are a pretty lucky bunch of fans - we get to say "I knew him when-"
  4. I forgot - congratulations on being one of the few (if not the only) players to get a coach ejected. There's something else that you were able to do that few could - get an emotional response from coach Hakstol - that's an accomplishment, make sure you put those two feats on your resume - they truly are unique skills.
  5. Mike, I went to my first hockey game when I was 6 weeks old, that would be 3 maybe 4 years ago - oh all right change the years to decades. I've seen a lot of players come and go and most of them are "a part of the family" for the years they are here. We love them and appreciate them and then they are gone and we miss them, hope that they achieve all that they want in life, but there is no hole in our hearts when they leave, just good wishes. There are however a few who climb into our hearts and hang on like a North Dakota tick that just won't let go. Farce Poobah reminded me of some of the guys who climbed into my heart along the way and even after 20-30 years it feels like yesterday. Guys like Eades, Phil Sykes, Mark Taylor, Chorney, Archibald, Ludwig, Vulcan, Smail, Hoogsteens, Panzers, Belfour, Hrkes, Goehring, Commodore, Greene, Jason Blake, Zack, Hales, and now you, who stay in my heart forever. These (and others that are currently blank due to hockey withdrawl) are the players that I constantly tell stories about, make sure my nephews know who they are and how they (and you) created this incredible Sioux Tradition that we are all so lucky to be a part of. I was thinking of some of the times that you would take a penalty and I would get frustrated and then I chuckle because I would be yelling at you, however if anyone around me would have said one negative word about you I would have had their head - you're family, I can say anything I want about you, but look out if anyone else dis'es you. I've sat on the end of the opposing bench for the last four years and have had the pleasure of seeing that "smile" up close and personal every game. What a pleasure. Thank you for allowing us to be your family for the last 4 years and please come back soon and often - personally I think UND needs to hire an instigator coach and you my friend would fit the position perfectly. Thank you for your openness and sincerity and your total commitment to whatever task you were asigned - you've done it all with tenacity and determination. YOU ARE ONE CLASS ACT AND ONE HECK OF A ROLE MODEL!!!!!!!!! I hope you get everything you want in life - you deserve it.
  6. Last year they had an 80's night and I wore my jersey from college - it has never been a "good luck" symbol - in fact it's about 50/50. I went over to my sister's to pick her up for the game and she just freaked. She said what the *&^$^&^* do you have on? I told her not to worry, I brought my Panzer game worn jersey with and woudl switch if need be. About half way through the second period we were down by 1 and I kept getting dirty looks from my sister so I went and changed. By the end of the 2nd we were tied up. She threw me her car keys and said "Get that 'thing' out of this building." I ended up taking it out to her car and the Sioux ended up winning. Needless to say my 80's jersey hasn't been out of the closet since.
  7. I gotta go with the Dogs - after all, Ziggy was not only a Sioux back back back up goalie, but also graduated from Red River. (and then there's Scott Sandlin - "added a couple of ++ to the "Sioux Tradition".
  8. OK, I'm getting old and get confused easily (killed way too many brain cells when I was young) Are people actually gathering between periods (or before or after the game) at the X? If so where. Remember, be specific, my brain generally only works DURING UND hockey games (and then only to yell at the refs).
  9. Listened to Prp on the pregame with TH last night and he confirmed that a molar was knocked out in that hit. Also said he went down so hard that he barely remembered anything about it other than when he "came to" there was a tooth floating around in his mouth. I think that might tick me off a little too.
  10. If there is a chance he might come back this year, Hak might "save" him for the regionals. (By the way - what is it with these teams bent on taking guys out - one idiot gave TJ, Oshie or Zajak the knee tonight - just dumb luck he didn't catch it right.)
  11. DRAT!!!!!!!!!!! I swear sometimes I think Campion's on drugs. The Dogs can come back tomorrow night though - new ref, new night and tired Pios. By the way. anyone get a good hit on Punkobitch? GO SIOUX and GO DOGS - let's finish these pretenders off tomorrow night!!
  12. I was at the game last night sitting right behind the Mav two end goal and left the REA madder than a wet hen. The Sioux came out flat - had a hard time standing up, puck kept getting caught up in their skates, couldn't make a pass, lost just about every race to the puck. To put it simply, it looked like their were 10 freshman out there (which I think there were). Things got a little better as the game went on, but Sheppard, and the linesmen as well, needed seeing eye dogs - for both teams - so when the Sioux finally got their legs under them, the stripes pulled them out again. The part that really burns is that Sheppard sat and watched the penalties and then would wag his finger, like don't do that boys. Felt like my gramma was reffing. Mav goal 1 - Offsides by at least 10 feet Mav goal 2 - called off the icing when the puck reached the red line - everyone except two Mavs thought it was icing. Sioux Goal - High stick Mav goal 3 Sheppard watched and non-call on Mav that just about took Prp's head off which left his guy open - everyone watching Prp laying in the middle of the rink and not watching the puck. The Sioux's other goal was really the only one that didn't have any controversy. The Sioux can beat these guys. Hopefully, they've gotten the jitters out and the freshman fear has faded. They've played their "big" game now and can come out and just play hockey. We'll miss Fabian and Stafford, but the Mav's are just brutes and goons, not hockey players - the rest of the team can pick it up and give the Mavs a clinic on how to play hockey. OK Rant done GO SIOUX (and lest we forget - go Dogz)
  13. These announcers are trying not to be too much of homers, but I'ld still rather listen to TH with no voice than this. It's going to be a long night - especially with Anderson.
  14. Anybody have the full scoop on who's where yet? I've been looking around and have only been able to find Parise, Bo, Green, Jones, Commodore, Bayda - nothing on Roche, Panzer, Goehring etc. Any news on any other alum?
  15. I was reading the Herald this morning and noticed that a John F (Jack) Bina had been killed in a car crash on Monday. Does anybody know if he's related to Robbie. While my sympathies go out to the family of "Jack" Bina, I certainly hope he is not related to Robbie. Their family has had a very difficult year already and it would be tragic to add to it.
  16. anybody know if we can get a video stream for the USA/Swiss game tonight? If so what's the link?
  17. Anybody know where we might be able to get an internet feed (audio or video) for this game? THANX
  18. I thought last year was the end of the "Minnesota Rule" cause everyone else was raising such stink about it (not just UND, but other teams as well.) I realize that money runs the show, but shouldn't the #1 team (regardless of who they are) play the Fri night game. Silly me, I'm such an idealist. I think the world should be fair, but then again if it was, Brady, Zach and Bo wouldn't be seeing chiros 3 times a day with bad backs for giving free piggy back rides all night on Fri and Sat nights.
  19. YaneA - you are so cool! Thanks for all you do to help the fans and the atmosphere - you are definately an inspiration to us all to quit whining and start acting. We can make the new Ralph as intimidating as the "old" Ralph with some determination and creativity (despite the "powers that be"). This series is really important to sweep and won't be easy even though we're playing the basement team. The guys have to come to play and we need to help them keep their intensity. Thanks again for all you do to contribute to the fans being the "7th man on the ice"!!!
  20. I've read on other threads that Al Pearson has two busses going to Duluth this weekend. Does anyone have any info on them? When they're leaving, how much it costs, any room left, how to contact Al Pearson etc.? Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks
  21. Also, am getting TV feed here in CS. Jeez is the crowd dead. What is this, corporate night?
  22. Not sure what's going on. Where did our 3rd period slam go? I know that all the teams that play us bring their A game, but things just don't seem to be clicking again - especially in the 2nd and 3rd. There was some extended inconsistant play against AA, MN and DU - They gotta start putting together 60 minutes again on a consistant basis. The Sioux are definately the best team in the country when they "play", but anybody can beat anybody else (especially in the WCHA) when there's half effort. I didn't "watch" the game, only listened on the radio, but there sure seem to be times when the team just seems to loose focus. I don't think the guys will be doing much sitting tonight or tomorrow (it will probably hurt too much after Blais gets done with them tonight), but hopefully they can use this as a wake up call.
  23. If I'm not mistaken, Karl Goehring had a couple of 4.0 semesters.
  24. Once again awful call - goal should have counted. As much as I want to blame Shepard for the loss, we just didn't play up to our usual standard. J Par kept us in it till the last, but 13 or so total shots on goal with the fire-power we have? I just have a very hard time believing the rodents have that good a D. I just didn't see the intensity coming from our guys, but that's watching it on TV and on a "homer" station as well. Maybe somebody who was at the game would have a better idea if UND had more intensity than I saw on TV. Not sure I'ld want to be Denver next week - the guys are going to be out for blood (goals.)
